Pretty much agreed. The dialogue for the most part reassured me that they want to stick to the character drama of berserk with how Guts was picking apart Farnese and Azan, which is obviously good.
Looks like they're going to make the next episode take place in some abandoned castle or something rather than outside. A change of scenery won't affect much, just hopefully it's nothing more than that.
Also it'd be nice if they have nipples in blu ray, because it just looks ridiculous.

The OP and ED for the 97 series were both just ridiculously laughable, to the point where seeing that OP during the eclipse episodes was just so jarringly out of context it was cringe inducing.
At least the OP in this one has a pretty good tune with some cool riffs. The ED I don't understand as much, and I'd agree is pretty typical for modern anime. The moon and the cross animations remind me vaguely of eva's ED, for what that's worth.

'97 Berserk was also relegated to airing at 1:30 in the morning because it was so violent.
Around 2000, Jap censors did start cracking down on nipples on TV, but it was mostly animators keeping them off by choice since new digital mastering techniques meant they could amend the show later and only show nipples to encourage DVD(now BD) sales.

You are correct there. The issue is that if an american company made somethinig that's close enough to what I generally consider animie I would be willing to call it anime. Or to make concessions I could call it "almost anime", "american-made anime" or whatever would settle the argument.
The problem is that the whole hodgepodge of things we associate with anime also involves some cultural aspects, storytelling conventions and so on. So it is much easier to say "made in japan", because it generally has the qualities I want.
But then taking that simplification and distorting it into the rule that everything animated in japan is anime basically perverts the intent of identifying entertainment with desirable properties.
It gets even more complicated if we take dubs into account. Most of /a/ also considers japanese voice acting as part of the product and that is one aspect that does indeed directly tie into the origin. And yet it does not cease to be anime once it's dubbed.

It's not strictly necessary, but you have to avoid certain angles or accept that some things will look quite uncanny. There's a reason why traditional animation usually jumps from frontal view to three-quarter profile without in-between frames. The flat, bug-eye heads really do not fit into 3D geometry.

My only problem with this is that they look like they are hovering all the time instead of walking but that's normal for puppets I guess.
How dark is the manga later on? I read upto point when Guts gets branded(or flashback revel?) and tells the little girl whose father(fat bald king) becomes a demon(due to the hell gate thing) to commit suicide, that's last I remember.
I stopped because it was getting too dark with no hope,just like my real life.
Is it all pain and suffering?
