I don't know about you guys, but when I read the VN again with the Steam release, I thought that the ending was far too drawn out and tragic to the point of it getting silly. If you're not skipping the voices then that wholedeathscene takes a good half hour during which they pile on sad event after sad event until I couldn't even take it seriously and was wishing for it to be over with already. It certainly moved me the first time, but I really can't imagine the anime will get much reaction out of me unless it cuts that shit out.

It was pretty good, played the VN years ago so I can't remember all of it.
I fucking despise the voice overs the protag delivers here though. The exposition I mean.
In the VN it makes a lot of sense, the protagonist talks directly to us the audience like a book would.
But here it's just unnecessary, and it doesn't allow me as an audience member to think for myself.
At first we see the robot and how she experiences the world, I get hints of something bad, and I get to see her boot up alone before we move on. Then we see the protag in this really cool city location being chased by robots. What happened? A robot uprising? One of the scientists was holding a gas mask, so a pandemic? Oh wait nevermind here is a voice over that explains everything, I don't have to think for myself then.
And it's even more annoying when I can see that the creators already know this when we see him lose his gun and food. He doesn't explain to me that the silver packets were food, they trust us to get it by showing the same packets later on and tell us he only has two left.
Does he need to tell me he is a junker? I can see him doing it, your images are telling the story just fine, stop it!
They could have held back this information and used it to build the relationship with the robot through dialogue. They already established that she doesn't know anything, it's perfectly natural to explain shit to her. Then they can confirm or debunk our thinking from before.
