Sekirei has the best MC. I'm serious; he isn't in high school, he isn't a moron, he isn't clearly gay - very early on in the series it was well-understood that he was in a relationship with each of the pokemon. There is no "eh? I didn't hear you" in Sekirei. He also isn't furniture, he actually contributes a fair bit, and not in the 'bullshit power of friendship last episode powerup' way, and not - and I want to stress this because this is sort of the last hurdle to overcome that a lot of series fall flat on - not in a way that steals too much attention from the girls.
And yet, despite being helpful, smart, thoughtful and surrounded by gorgeous women, he is very much an everyman for the audience to relate with, though not entirely a blank slate to project onto. He's good without being amazing, in a very believable way.
