Sorta, though he obfuscates trials as often as he helps out and this was something the writers actually did a surprisingly good job at keeping subtle. There are times where he introduces evidence and points of discussion and then later on he's the one who attacks Hajime over it, you don't notice it because you don't really keep his intentions in mind the entire time (and obviously in Case 1 you didn't know at all, so him getting on Hajime's case about the Fire Door even though he brought it up in the first place doesn't seem strange). He's basically Byakuya done way better.
