Well, that depends. It's not bad but also not very good. It does some thing nice but suffers from some bad stuff. I don't really like it much. But the anime looks decent. The staff said that they want to focus on dynamic play so if they manage to pull that of it could be fun to watch. The shame is about Nakazawa. He can do much better charadesigns than this, although recent materials show that it won't be so bad as it seemed from first promotional materials. Too bad that he won't be doing Chief AD. He'll most likely be featured only in first episode where he could do some KA and possibly AD. But now he's too busy on his Perfect Bones so we cannot really expect him to be putting a lot of time into DAYS. Shame.

I didn't like it. It felt cheap as fuck, the production values were low overall, the pacing made it boring, it was mostly fucking bland as fuck, aside from animation which was horrid.
The only good thing i can remember is that the feMC was kinda cute and that's it, but most /sp/ show have them like this now, so it is nothing to write about.
It also didn't help that anime was going out of its way to not show you how they play football, but instead wanted to you watch some shitty drama about searching yourself and coping withdeath of a sibling, whose death helped you stay alive.
Overall it was bad, just watch Giants Killing.

Because characters are supposed to be people too, you don't need to make entire arcs about them going shopping but you need to show the reader that these characters actually EXIST in the world they're in, you need to show that things from the outside have influence in them and then you need to kick ass when they're actually playing the sport they like.

I have to agree. Haikyuu started out with a lot of promise, but the character development is awful. The main character will never truly progress because he ALWAYS has to be the underdog. Other relevant characters have remain more or less the same to maintain the status quo.
None of the characters have a life outside the volleyball club. The most we get a chapter where they failed a test and couldn't go to practice camp but the rest of the high school experience is non-existent. It makes sense that the sport is the main focus, but athletes have other stuff going on and other stuff that effects them.
I just can't understand why people praise haikyuu character development when there are so many overlapping characters and the character development is static for the most part.
