That's true, it's just not utilized well. Cartoons had the same problem with Flash until around the time when Wakfu came along.

And if it wasn't CGI it would of cost a shit ton more and never been made. Also CGI has come a long way and will consider to do so. Just wait, in a few years you will have hand drawn quality look and movement but CGI model that can be dynamically interacted with in a VR space.
