It's clear to me that Togashi is going on hiatus, or more like he absolutely NEEDS to go on hiatus to redo chapter 357 and some other earlier chapters and then maybe use one of the future chapters to find some way to fit in an explanation on why Hisoka isn't a vegetable due to getting 100% brain damage from his brain not getting any oxygen for more than 5 minutes.
He needs alot of time to think about this and plan it out, then do the work necessary to fix this huge mistake he did, now that he realizes it.

Does he need to go back and fix the fact that characters can hold their breath for 20 mins, grow claws, rip hearts out without leaving any blood, age instantly out of fear, seal a severed limb by flexing, etc? HxH is not medically accurate, they don't have normal human bodies. And Hisoka wasn't suddenly revived, he gave himself a heart massage (which does actually revive people in real life).

This hiatus cliffhanger simply doesn't feel the same as the other big ones. No, I'm not just being optimistic. Go reread the chapters before the last two hiatuses, take into account the context, and then you'll see what I mean.

Gon basically grew up in the forests of his island.
He understand loss, but from a more instinctive POV:
Death happens. You move on.
He was never on the side of the one left behind plus he found himself guilt of Kite's death because Gon himself was weak and had to be protected (we know now that that is bullshit, Pitou would have raped Kite either way), so he clung to the idea that Kite was still alive and it needed was Pitou to let him go (like a child wishing for a relative back or even an animal close to its brethren corpses).
He goes through a fuckload of stress through training, having his wishes "delayed" (because he constantly thinks he's ready) and then he finally meets the truth.
After this, he goes through the stages of grief in a very accelerated pace but ends up in a suicidal state of mind and Despair Gon is born.

This cliffhanger simply isn't the type to be followed by a huge gap. It isn't big enough like the Beyond reveal or prince infodump and bodyguard hype. The art didn't deteriorate, yet it also wasn't detailed enough to obviously burn out Togashi like the vol 33 run did. Combine this with Togashi starting to get back in shape and neatly ending things with another volume, and I think it's a planned hiatus rather than a spur of the moment thing or the result of bad injuries.
It may not last only a month or two, but I'm certain it's not going to be 2 years.

What is the future of Hisoka? He's a character who has been looming from the beginning, still has ties to Gon and Illumi among others and is always a wildcard.
But he keeps getting involved with the spiders and Chrollo, and now he seems even more obsessed.
Would Togashi really go through all this ridiculousness to have Chrollo just put him down later again? Why drag out their confrontations, especially when Hisoka has shown he wants to fight other strong characters? With Kurapika around and a Zoldyck in the spiders would he really end up killing them all like he states he will, including Chrollo?
There's way too many questions and oddities with it all. It seemed like the spiders would be a part of Hisoka's story but they've completely taken it over.

I just caught up to HxH after dropping at the Greed Island arc a while back and it's my first hiatus. Oh boy! I sure hope Togashi doesn't keep us waiting.
I just finished the Yorknew Arc (watching the 2011 anime for the first time) so I'm depressed, because I was told that this was already the highest point of the series, and the one coming now will be really shit in comparison.
I hope it's not as bad as the massive drop that happened after the Hunter Exam+Zoldyck Arc.

I watched 2011->99->manga and I'm glad I did, because it goes from worst to best so none of them could disappoint me. I'm looking at the first ten chapters or so and it's pretty consistently mediocre in the art department. It looks like there may be things in the manga that the 2011 anime skips though? I saw some of iton Toonamiand I don't remember them making sushi for the gourmet hunter girl in the anime.
