I thought all the main characters were very strong, each pair could have lead a manga themselves and done a decent job of it, but all together it was great. Good fights, Ohkubo understands choreography and impact well. Creative use of powers and character concepts, too - Mifune and that chainsaw guy especially.
Things started to drag when they went to the moon and fought clowns forever, and then the tone shift on the very final chapter felt hella abrupt. But after some time, it's not as bad as it seemed - everything got wrapped up, except an on-screen kiss between Maka and Soul, I needed that in my life.
I only watched the first season of the anime, but I thought it was really quite good. The last seconds of the last fight were a bit of a let down though. I would've preferred to seeMaka crush the Kishin with a gigantic Kishin Hunter.

It was pretty fun, the manga fights were awesome, the art manages to have its own style without being shit. Black Star became so laughably OP in the end it was great. The only problem was the courage punch becoming more or less manga canon.

Crona only managed to keep him on the moon and away from everyone on earth. What're they gonna do when he inevitably breaks free? Are we going to get to see an older Death the Kid go full Deathmetal on him and seal him in another seal made of his own flesh? And on another note, why can nobody seem to kill the Kishin? That motherfucker was probably the strongest character in the series

It's the first anime I picked up on my own, without being recommended to me by my friends. Because of that, I think it's what really got me into anime in the first place. It's got sentimental value.
Trying to put bias aside, I rather enjoyed the show. It had its ups and downs,Star's voice was the most ungodly screeching noise because I watched the dub, there was a cat with tiddies, and there was the power of FRIENDSHIP and COURAGE. Some bits seemed clichéd, but I didn't mind, I'm a sucker for clichés. Also award goes to Stein for being best teacher.The bit with Crona made me cry like a bitch.You know the one.

Fire Brigade is decent but it's kind of lacking. The concept is interesting but the story doesn't feel like a natural progression. The characters are neat but since Shinra is the main character we don't get to see a lot of the supporting cast. Overall I kind of wish I liked it more than I actually do. And yeah it definitely does feel like a lot of the themes and motifs Ohkubo has done before both in Soul Eater and B.Ichi just not as well done.

I happened to enjoy reading Soul Eater, i felt the goofyness was less played in the manga and actually had chapters that were more serious than anticipated for what is a little kids story.
When I watched the few episodes I did, I just couldn't get into it.
I do remember Mifune being best girl and really liking the side character arcs that came the fuck out of nowhere.
Of all the good and bad, that was a bold move and it really turned out well.
Did the witches really have an inner predisposition towards being destructive or was that just Shinigami being really racist? Because the witches shown in the series like Eruka, Blair and the cabaret club girls never really did anything THAT assholish, only Medusa and Arachne went around making life uncomfortable for everyone

There was a whole thing about the guiding principle of magic being destruction, even Kim acknowledged that when she switched sides. Not that Death wasn't really racist but it was most-likely true that having inborn magic power led towards an inclination to destruction. Perhaps magic makes one more susceptible to madness. If nothing else, it fits with the rest of the setting the way that things were kind of dark and horrifying underneath the friendly exterior.
