We're about halfway through 2016 now, and some people are arguing that 2016 is the best /a/ has been in over 7 years.
What do you think? Is the increase of good anime responsible for this uptick? Or is /a/ the worst it has ever been, and people are just lying to be ironic?
If /a/ needs to be fixed, what can be fixed, and how can it be done?

It's definitely the increase of good shows. I don't think /a/ needs to be fixed considering its one of the better boards on this site.
