You mean the EU. Britain isn't going anywhere, but the Eu will has just been dealt a mortal blow that it will never recover from.
It won't disappear overnight, but the EU will collapse from this.
>>
>>143239127
Good. The EU should have never been a thing to begin with.
>>
>>143239027
Nice delusion.

>You mean the EU. Britain isn't going anywhere, but the Eu will has just been dealt a mortal blow that it will never recover from.
That's why the Euro is tanking in value and the pound isn't, right?

Right?

>>
>>143239241
And with Britain leaving, you don't think others will? Pandora's box has been opened and it won't be closed.
>>
>>143239127
It's actually gonna turn interesting now, since the Scotts are going to use this to do another vote to become independant, since they didn't want to leave the EU at all. Let's see how Great Britain will look like as a patchwork island.
>>
>>143239241
This is probably a good moment to buy pounds come to think of it.

Depends on how much of an example is gonna be made. The EU will now want to penalize Britain as much as possible so that other countries don't get the same idea.
Honestly I couldn't care less of the EU as we know it stops to exist and we just go back to being an economic based union.
That being said I'm going to assume that Pro-US sentiment will take a huge blow in europe in the coming years, seeing as Britain was their main defender here.

Leaving is an awful idea for them because it's uncharted territory. The EU markets are easy to calculate while the British market as a singular entity is new.

I'm sorry, Yang Wen-li, but between this and the upcoming presidential election in America, I'm losing faith in the current idea of democracy.

Although there really aren't any feasible alternatives that I like, either.

I guess this is just a general loss of faith in the human race, as I'm not sure it's capable of self-governance. Benevolent alien overlords when?
>>
>>143241771

>>
>>143241827
Yes, it sucks when you lose by such a close margin. It should be 2/3. Or even 90%
>>
>>143241827
Not him, but democracy only works well when the people who are voting are smart enough to logically think things through instead of following rumors. Sometimes, majority rule results in some really fucking awful outcomes.
>>
>>143241891
Again, you only feel this way because you're on the minority and on the side of the establishment. That's why you want democracy twisted to make it harder to vote your side out.
>>
I read some of the leaflets I got full of 'facts' about the EU and they're all full of half truths, lies and blatant omissions.

I'm not really surprised so many people voted becuase they were scared of mussies.

But regardless of who wins in a democracy, if the margin is close enough, there's going to be enough conflict and obstructionism between the two sides that efficiency goes through the floor; this was one of the big talking points in LOTGH

The more interesting thing to me is that its showing that the political pendulum is starting to swing back in full force towards the right. If Britain leaves the EU, I don't think it would have all that strange if Trump got elected, if other countries started opting out of the EU as well. Maybe this globalist bullshit can finally be laid to rest and countries can start putting their citizens first again, and we can all be proud to be from wherever we are from.

Democracy is fine, people simply never bother to inform themselves and vote on other things like emotional investment and whatnot. Which is kind of a problem you let everyone vote - you end up with easily swayed masses who don't really think for themselves.

People will always be affected by persuasion above policy. As Scott Adams says, "everyone believes they are in the rational minority. No one is in the rational minority." The "everyone is dumb but me" shit always comes pouring out whenever democracy leads to a different result than what the speaker wanted.

Of course, actually paying attention to policies is a great thing that can only help the democratic process. It's just that voting based on who was most persuasive isn't a negative by default.
>>
>>143245223
I didn't say it was good or bad. Fact of the matter is though, NO ONE knows for certain what will happen from hear on out.

That said, the current state of the EU is way too much of a mess. Greece alone was already dragging it down. Propping up its failed economy wasn't going to save Greece, just drag down the rest of Europe.

There are pros and cons to what will happen, and we don't know where things will go. However, I want to believe that the pros will outweigh the cons.
Then again, even without the Brexit, I look at the state of Europe right now, I see disaster on the horizon.

Talking to a Chinese man doesn't mean the Chinese man will accept German values. And vice versa.
If you've traveled around the world outside the Western world, you will know that every country outside the West have cultures of their own, beliefs of their own, principles of their own. Some completely irreconcilable with our own views.
Just because we can talk to them on the internet, that doesn't mean they will just share whatever with you.
Their family comes first, their nations come first as extensions of their family, and their cultures will come first.
Most people say there is no zero-sum in global politics, but the only people who I've found say that are in rich Western nations.
Everyone else sees us as parasites taking everything away from them, and they understand why we do that: because in order to live the lifestyles we have in the West, we have to do so.

And these nations, rather than hate it, actually want to do the same. And that leads to global conflicts all the way from Venezuela to Ukraine to the South China Sea.

Yang dies. Reinhardt conquers most of the galaxy. He sets up some kind of constitutional monarchy like what the UK has. Free Planet remnants I believe have a single planet left and are allowed to continue existing. The two societies begin to coexist peacefully - at least for now. Reinhardt gets sick and dies shortly after conquering everything. Hilda manages the empire until their son is old enough. His son is a good emperor and reigns during a golden age of prosperity.

And probably years down the line everything happens all over again.

And I could be slightly off about details because it's been a while since I watched.

He may would've been against leaving but he would have no problems with the referendum itself since it was a decision made by the people, for the people.

If UK prospers then the people chose right.

If the country crashes and burns then the people will learn a valuable lesson and they have no one but themselves to blame for their choices.

Either way democracy is doing its job.

Not to mention, a lot of politicians, most notably Trump, have flatly stated that an independent UK gets first dibs on everything from trade deals to immigration to military cooperation and the EU will only be considered once the UK's needs are met.

This also emboldens other countries to hold their own referendums. The Netherlands, for example, has already done polling which shows an average of 60% of voters supporting a Nexit.

Democracy was never supposed to be the better regime. It's just the most legitimate one, because people decide for themselves and only have themselves to blame when something goes wrong.
Of course, that's not what happens, because people always end up blaming the people they elected rather than themselves for electing them. But then again one could say it's only fair since people can't vote for every law that's passed, representativeness is questionable (an elected assembly will rarely have the same opinion on any subject matter as the people who elected them), people that are elected don't always do what they said they would, etc. Current democracy in the western world can certainly be improved.

The thing is, even the people who are informed/smarter won't necessarily make the best choice. Moreover the very act of making them pass a test based on information they have to learn make them little soldiers of the people who provided the, probably biased or possibly even erroneous, information.

Wow, there are quite a number of liberals here. I'll explain to you guys something.

Sure, Britain will tank its economy, the severity depends on how much of an asshole Merkel is, but it is all worth it to prevent it to be overrun by immigrants. I am from Malaysia, trust me from my almost 30 years of experience living in my country that multiculturalism is not a good idea compare to a homogeneous culture, or at least a few culture that are similar and compatible. You are welcome to live in my country, preferably working in a suburb to feel the general atmosphere here. I am not against a more open globe for everyone but I don't want to see totalitarian states spawning one after another. I want to enjoy my freedom of speech and knowledge, at the very least the internet should have these values.

Well first of all creating more medias 100% funded and owned by the people without any intermediaries would be a good first step.
Most journalists might have the best intentions but they might as well not be there when subjects, whether pr not they're adressed and how they're adressed are dictated by corporations, the state, or audiences, and they risk losing their job if they don't align themselves on the media's values. Moreover these fast paced environments don't allow for research and deeper understanding of the adressed subjects.

Immigrants are not the biggest problem. The problems are that the leftists try to silence discussion and spit on freedom of speech on the ground of "it hurts my feelings". And this referendum is a major blow to their ideology.

Good ideas die when they are not voiced out, bad ideas grow when they are unchallenged by open debate.

>the problem is that limiting their power is a really difficult subject. Taxing them to death doesn´t seem like a really smart decision either

At one point in history an american president did break apart a corporation that was too powerful. General Motors was like barely one tenth of it. Can't remember the name.
But nah, taxing them to death is pretty much useless. In my opinion the only way to get rid of these and redistribute the money they earned thanks to the people to the people is simply for the people to seize the means of production. Either by force, or just pass a law that says, everything you're working with is now yours. So people everywhere now own the company they working in. You're hired in a 100 people big company? You now own one hundredth of it.
Of course this sounds idealist but well, I think it's a solution.

>In my opinion the only way to get rid of these and redistribute the money they earned thanks to the people to the people is simply for the people to seize the means of production.
Even if I get what you are trying to say, you know than that can end up pretty badly. besides I think that if someone is skilled enough to create something big a system should be found where his effort is kept within his control, but it also limits his growth to a reasonable limit
Its not an easy answer, sure, but we have come a long way. I also fear that certain advances in the information era and globalization make manipulating people even easier
>>
>>143250432

It depends on how developed the cultures are. Cultures that cannot adapt die off while culture that can will be superior and prevail. The Chinese worked their ass off and paid taxes to support the country, in fact the Malays that are less religious and abandon their backwardness pay taxes for the countries. Malay culture is the one that need to change.

In terms of Europe, it would be the reverse. It would be like Chinese working culture is present in the region, but some retard wanna invite hordes of Malays to consume what they've build for themselves for a long time.

In Malaysia the Chinese are an ethnic minority (about 20%), native western Europeans are nowhere near the point of being outnumbered by immigrants like the Malaysian Chinese are by the Malays.

Nor have the immigrants controlled the government for sixty years and passed legislation to write racial discrimination and affirmative action policies into law in favor of immigrants at the expense of the Europeans like the Malays have done to the Chinese.

Nor is Western Europe run by a cabal of immigrant cronies who crash the economy by embezzling state funds and using it to live like kings and buy the loyalty of members of parliament while claiming that attempts to uncover their corruption are a European conspiracy to seize control and turn immigrants into slaves, like the Malays are saying about the Chinese.

Without Malaysian Chinese businesses to leech off and hold things together, Malaysia would just be another third world shithole with added Islamism.
>>
>>143250802
Well then why even bring it up? The point is that the countries of Europe do not benefit from mass immigration. It's all done on humanitarian grounds.
>>
>>143250851
Brought it up because Malaysia was being used as an example of why immigration and multiculturalism is bad for a country, but in fact if the territory that became Malaysia had not received Chinese immigration many decades ago it would be far far worse off than it is today without the descendants of those Chinese immigrants to prop the country up in spite of being held back by pro-Malay policies.

>>
>>143250956

You wanna know why it "works" for Malaysia and won't work for Europe? It is because Chinese are hardworking and actually trying to help the country, while the immigrants to Europe are lazy and wants welfare and free shits only. Europe don't need immigrants to survive, but Malaysia needs the Chinese to survive.

Even though there is institutionalized racism by the Malaysian government, the Chinese people worked thanklessly for 5 generations, FIVE FUCKING GENERATIONS, and they are still considered the ousiders. In contrast, the Philippine people that are in Malaysia less than 5 years were given the citizenship here with full indigenous people benefits just because they are Muslims.

>>
>>143251176
Which was my point in the first place, Malaysian multiculturalism is not applicable to European multiculturalism so mentioning it in >>143249795 isn't really useful. At best, it's a point in favor of being selective about where you take your immigrants from, which is a pretty different lesson from "better not let yourself get overrun by immigrants".

Migration within the EU was a good thing because the English were the lazy bastards who didn't want the jobs that hardworking immigrants were filling. English Apples and Pears was just saying today that they had to recruit from other EU countries because local recruitment only got them a fraction of the workers they needed. The British NHS was a huge employer of doctors from other EU countries because Britain is unable to train enough British doctors to meet demand. EU migrants on average have been bigger tax contributors to Britain than local British.

I do look forward to seeing what happens to Malaysia when all the Chinese have left for Australia, the UK, and Singapore.

The problem is that radicalism grows when immigrants don´t integrate in the new environment. sure, not all refugees are terrorists, but they come from 3rd world countries. and when they come to a first world country and integration is not promoted, they merely bring their 3W problems with them. And rare that, like Lee Kuan Yew, your dictator will have loyal subordinates who believe in his principles of meritocracy as strongly as he does, and a population to dictate to that has a strong culture of working hard and competitiveness.

And rare that, after your dictator is no longer in power, the country remains true to his principles and continues as a meritocracy instead of sliding into systematized corruption and plutocracy.

Well good luck my friend, and I hope the west can hold it together. A small country like mine has very little international political power, so if the nations of the west become shit, we will be impacted too but we can do nothing about it.

>unlimited power corrupts sooner or later.

It is still hard to say. Lee Kuan Yew only died few years ago. The effect is not there yet. I feel that one of the reason dictatorship worked is because Eastern culture of submissiveness. Also Singapore is just a tiny city states which makes it easy to micromanage. Some people tried to do that in a medium size Western country and you already know the result of it.

Sometimes people need to understand the impact of difference in culture.
