When did Machi ever develop? She was always in panic all of the time and didn't make any progress despite repeated attempts.

When will anime makers learn that making anime original endings that shit on the source material can be detrimental to the anime's popularity?
>>
>>143235990
Never, seeing as they never learn from the graveyard of previous anime mistakes
>>
>>143235990
They know, but they don't care. With creativity especially, if someone's given an inch, they want a mile.
>>
>>143234333
Can you pussy little daisies just shut the fuck up already? Machi tried to face her fears and failed this time - it happens. Better she tried and failed than never tried at all. She'll learn and grow from it. Yoshio clearly has her best interests at heart and is trying to help her improve as a person; Machi even fucking said herself that she wanted to learn to get over her issues. The shit with the human sacrifice was a poor choice of metaphor, yeah, but it's pretty clear from the rest of the show that Yoshio cares for Machi and wants what's best for her in the end. Stop being such little faggots holy shit just how gay can you even be.

wew. It amazes me how you can have a good show all the way through but throw it all away in the last few episodes. Author didn't even care to approve the script.

>The anime has Machi successfully doing a performance in front of a crowd (with great difficulty and only by going to her Happy Place and seeing the audience as the forest) but once she completes her performance, she hallucinates that the cheering crowd is throwing rocks at her and has a complete breakdown. She continues to falsely believe that the crowd attacked her after she gets home and becomes terrified of the city. Then Machi, broken and dead-eyed gives up her dream of living in the city and declares she will never go to the city again. Natsu and Yoshio, instead of correcting her delusions and getting her psychological help just decide to happily celebrate her decision. Natsu tells Machi that she never has to think about anything ever again and the series ends with Machi seemingly mentally regressing to the personality of a 5 year old, becoming more ignorant about the outside world than ever before and becoming more reliant of Natsu than ever before. And the show treats this as a happy ending with happy music playing in the background.

Holy fuck that is awful.
>>

It's all made up in your head. She could, you know, recover like a normal anime character in a gag manga.

The show ended. At least berserk showed you guts got out of the eclipse before rolling the final credits.
>>
>>143243045
And? It's still all made up that she is mentally retarded forever. If they didn't show Guts getting out, would it make it that much worse of an ending? This parallel is nonsensical.
>>
>>143243199
Before ending the show, they showed that guts gets past the cliffhanger.

They didn't do the same for Machi. As far as the viewer and the show is concerned, she's retarded forever. Any belief otherwise is pretty much headcanon because the show doesn't indicate that.
>>
>>143243273
The show doesn't indicate that she is retarded forever either. Both are headcannon, why don't you get that? If a character doesn't get past the cliffhanger, they automatically get the worse end, is that what you're trying to tell me?

No, one is supported by what the show portrays at the end, the other is just making shit up to negate what the show portrayed at the end. Kind of an important difference.
>>
>>143243489
Neither is supported by what the show portrays at the end. It was more of a non-ending than whatever atrocity or banality it could be. Only people who wish to see it as a permanent affliction will see it that way.
If you can keep a cool head, you will see that things are up in the air. It's not exactly a pleasant ending but it's far from atrocious. Stay deluded if you wish.

I said this in the other thread but

Where did everything go so wrong that /a/ watches a genre deconstruction and is just BAFFLED, has NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED like WHERE DID MY GENRE GO

Kuma Miko is a satire of all these "healing" country life shows that have been coming out recently, like Non Non Biyori and Barakamon. It pokes (horrific) holes in the fantasy of rural innocence that has nothing to do with what rural Japanese actually live or want.
>>
>>143243566
>Stay deluded if you wish.
Rich coming from the guy making headcanon to negate the events of the ending.

Here's the thing anon, things could possibly change for her, yes. But the show gave no indication such a thing would happen. As such, you can only go by what it portrayed: she returned home mindbroken and regressed. It's funny, but the ending to this anime is more hopeless than Berserk's.

It's like a "happily ever after". Could an ending like this actually result in a divorce? Maybe, but that's not what the story implies.
>>
>>143243719
>deconstruction

>>
>>143243719
>muh deconstruction

>>
>>143243719
>Kuma Miko is a satire of all these "healing"

It's not supposed to be. The ending isn't intentionally dark, it's just dark as a result of incompetence, because in the manga it's part of an arc. They decided to stop the anime during the low point of the arc.
>>
>>143243719
That doesn't make sense. Kumamiko is also supposed to promote Sendai. You don't make a satire while trying to make a positive outlook of a particular area. That's just retarded from a tourism standpoint.
>>
Man ANN is slow. This was like the biggest thing every since it aired. Nips were literally having threads that broke past the 1000 post mark, 4000 post mark even.

At this point, I just feel sorry for everybody else involved in this because of how much backlash the ending got. Hopefully Machi's VA gets more work in the future and the manga gets a huge boost in sales.
>>
>>143243719
>Where did everything go so wrong
Right around the time when people who don't know anything about writing started pretending that anything that subverted any level of expectation, no matter how it was done, was considered a "deconstruction" and that it intrinsically held artistic merit and was immune to criticism.
>>
>>143243719

>Animeonlyfags
>>
>>143243719

>making headcanon to negate the events of the ending
Nice ad hominem there. I could say the same to you that you're making headcanon just to get unnecessarily mad but that wouldn't help discussion, will it?

There is no indication that she is mindbroken foerever as well which is what I am calling delusion. If you can see the possibility of her recovering, why not have the benefit of the doubt and not get pissy about it all? I don't see why you need to keep bringing Berserk into this either.
>>
Literally the biggest problem with the ending was the sacrificial maiden line Yoshio made. That single fucking line completely fucked over the joke. I mean, that was the specific line the author complained about as well.

>>
>>143243890
I don't think you know what headcanon means. The show ends on a low note. There's no indication she recovers. Deciding she does is headcanon because your'e creating events that are not hinted at or implied by the show. Whereas I'm just saying that the show's ending is the implied ENDING. Story's over.

>>143243890
>I don't see why you need to keep bringing Berserk into this either.
Because Berserk, despite being a much darker anime, had the good sense to at least show the viewer that, despite the hopeless situation guts was in, he makes it out. If it didn't have the epilogue, you'd have to assume guts didn't make it out of the eclipse. Just like judging by the anime only, we have to assume Miko never really recovers. Because there's no indication otherwise, in fact her "friends" encourage her to remain exactly like that.

I'd say it was partly because of that, and partly because so many expectations were broken. It feels like more than majority% of the people watching this expected Machi to get healed, but they didn't get that so they're lashing out at everything they can.
>>
>>143244115
Yeah man. That one 4000~ post 2chan thread had a good chunk of people pointing out how Machi got the Kamille end.

But the best part is how they when completely off the rails and talked about equally bad adaptations
>>
>>143244023
The author had no problem with the ending just that one comment from Yoshio. But you and the 3 other retards who try to circlejerk it into some kind of tragedy are too delusional to reason with.
>>
>>143243911
Its the context. We all know its supposed to be a lighthearted gag scene with Natsu and Machi happy together, but the scene with them before it and the changes they made to that ending scene kill the atmosphere and make it feel like something else.

The last bit we see of Machi is her having a freakout to the point where something snaps and she's dead eyed and defeated looking. Then comes the end scene.

In it she's talking in a more childish fashion and lighter voice than normal. She also doesn't seem to know what a tablet is despite seeing natsu use one multiple times over the series and refer to it as such. And they botched the Saito joke. In the manga Natsu says he ordered the cake from the Amazon website. Machi knows what the internet is, but not Amazon. This leads her to think someone called Mr. Saito delivered the cake from Brazil. The anime removed the amazon (most likely due to copyright) and Brazil bits, whivh just makes her sound like she doesn't know what the internet is at all.

This combined with the previous "broken" bit changes how the ending will be viewed by people. Honestly all that was needed was a short line of dialogue or something in the previous scene that shows Machi is okay. Have her ask for food or something, don't just show her limp and dead eyed being hugged and spun around by a bear.

The ending as it stands just makes it seem like something really is wrong with her and is difficult to take in a light hearted way.
>>
>>143244231
The point was that Machi returned to her usual life in the village, as that scenes proves. She's no more retarded now than she was in the first episode.
>>
>>143244274
There's no need for context in a two-page gag, though - people are just adding their own context to the scene due to how they felt about the episode. Just like someone in one of the past threads said that the Kumamiko-chan segments took place after she got mindbroken and all that and now it's suddenly a lot darker.
As for the scene's changes, the tablet part was probably an oversight while trying to change it (because of the Amazon thing) and it can be assumed that Machi never knew anything about the internet - she knows about Skype and wi-fi, but if she was never explained anything about those should could have easily assumed that they're unrelated.
I bet that even if the Amazon bit had made it in, people would still be saying that she became retarded.
>>
>>143244274
No you're just trying to see it in a dark way because of your autism and desire to shitpost. Like one of those fags who retardedly thinks every manga is like their hentai and brings up "was she raped" whenever they can.
>>

Is this like Rebellion all over again, where desperate fanboys perform world records in mental gymnastics to justify plainly and objectively bad writing?
>>
>>143244274
This is basically how I felt about the whole thing, though since I wanted a cute show about a country miko and a bear having fun I was disappointed only a few episodes in. The bullying turned me off right away. But the ending was just too depressing. I'm glad I didn't have to contribute to sales or viewership ratings by watching this. It really was just really drawn out mental (and sometimes even physical) abuse of a little girl. Even if I thought lighthearted bullying was cute this would be too much.

What's there to argue about? It wasn't bad because it was a bad end. It was bad because it was unfunny dragged out shit that pulled different parts of the manga and rammed it into this really shitty final arc that quite honestly a chore to watch.

The only funny part during that entire arc was Natsu screaming out to the gods about Machi by sheer virtue of how hilariously melodramatic it was.

>>
>>143244547
I figured it would have teasing and off-color jokes. I was cool with that. Right around when yankee started pulling her hair was when I started to rethink it a bit.

If this was just supposed to be bullying porn, then it's just not made for me. That's fine. I just wish I hadn't gotten lured in by the cuteness and humor.

People argue because there are people crying and overreacting over 3 minutes of anime and won't shut up about it. It's fine if you think it's bad but why bother making threads crying the same shit every single day. Oh nevermind, we're on /a/ during summer season.
>>
>>143244675
Philosophy 101 is only good for ethics.

>>143244685

>>

>Why is the final episode of a series that ended less than a week ago still getting threads?

Next week is the dead week between seasons too so expect more threads without the bulk of the new seasons shows to draw attention yet.
>>
>>143244710
It's not a discussion. It's a circlejerk based on delusional headcanon about her getting mindbroken and having a bad/tragic ending.
>>
>>143235618
>There. That's what she complained about, nothing to do with what happened at the end.
>But of course, ANN is a bunch of retards too so they found a way to criticize Machi giving up.

What the fuck do you think she CAN say? Thank's to the nature of the industry it's not like she can out right shit talk anyone. She either will want to get other works animated or wants to keep the connections.

The fact that she didn't even try to give it half hearted praise and instead just thanked the guys who have no say in it is a pretty big red flag
>>
>>143244750
Do you have any idea what a circlejerk is?

Because a thread with both agreement and disagreement in various posts is not that, and no one in here is using trips, so I would love to know where you got that idea.
>>
>>143244781
Wow first you guys go 2deep4u on Machi's ending and now you're doing to the author's comments

bravo, your retardation is supreme
>>
I really like art in this anime.

Guess I won't be picking it up though.
>>
>>143244819
The thread was created with the intent of starting a circlejerk like the previous threads over the ending. A couple of people coming here to tell you guys to fuck off already isn't a discussion on the anime.
>>
>>143244858
Try it out if you like comedies about technologically incompetent people, because that's what most of the show is about. Don't go in expecting "comfy" however the fuck your personal definition of that is though or else you'll become like the people in here.
>>
>>143244921
When you don't like a thread, you have several options:
1. Report the thread if it's against the rules
2. Hide the thread if it's simply something you dislike (aka an opinion that you just can't stand)
3. Shitpost

Now, I know option 3 is really quite appealing, but think of all the free time you would have if you just picked 1 or 2? All that time to watch anime, or read manga, or masturbate. The possibilities are endless.
