So let me get this straight
The Blue mermaid fleet went in know that the enemy had ECM capable of disabling their guided torpedoes and that standard torpedoes would be their only effective armament, yet didn't stock enough standard torpedoes to seriously damage or disable the Musashi.
Why is this coast "guard" so incompetent? Why have they been playing onigoko with WW2 relics instead of just sending in aircraft to intercept and disable. If their plan involved firing live explosive munition at the ship in the first place, there doesn't seem to be any reason to rely entirely on woefully underequipped and unprepared naval combat.
I guess this just goes to show the competence of the japanese "self-defense" force.

If they cut out the bit with the red-eyed crowd of mind-controlled lesbian zombies they definitely could've played up the mystery of what exactly is going on by showing things from Moka's limited perspective.
Instead they just tossed her flashback randomly into the middle of the episode like a bit of narrative housecleaning. It's sloppy.

She went from determined and brave captain to wet sponge in the span of 1 minute. At no point in the show did she show us that she lacked determination. They kept showing how she cares a lot about the Harekaze crew but not in the way she showed this episode. She was plenty willing to undertake the risk of saving Spee, Musashi and Hiei before, yet she already cared about her friends back then. The leadup to her breakdown was very poor.

On one side of the room, the shit cans, no one wants to get even close.

They could fit this show into the Star Trek formula near perfectly, mixing tense/dramatic stuff with character building SoL stuff.
I honestly don't know what haifuri has done to attract this kind of people. It follows the time-tested format of combining cute girls and military themes, yet they're like PICK ONE OR THE OTHER MY HEAD IS CONFUSE.
Worse yet, when you point this out they usually reply that when they saw it was an anime about cute highschool girls in IJN warships they OBVIOUSLY assumed it would be a realistic portrayal of naval warfare and thus are righteously disappointed to find that the cute girls still refuse to die horrible deaths week after week.

It's called escalation of commitment, or the sunk cost fallacy. When you've wasted a few weeks watching an anime that quite obviously isn't what you want it to be, there's a point where you'd rather keep watching until the end than drop it.
The only benefit of watching it is feeling somewhat more entitled to complain, whereas the cost is obviously more time wasted; the cost outweighs the benefit.
