Post timeskip One Piece is not as good but enjoyable. Fishman Island was lacking in adventure, world-building, and memorable characters but it made up for in themes. Punk Hazard was a mess... Dressrosa has had great concepts but I think it's execution hasn't been very good. So far, all these arcs rank below the greatness of Alabasta, Skypiea, and W7.

I can see the arguments against Kyro's flashback. Overall he gave the arc an added layer of depth it needed or it'd otherwise be Alabasta 2.0, but it did drag out the pacing, plus he stole Nico Robin's one fight this arc.
Fujitora's reasoning made sense, but again, he was so wishy-washy, "I'm a threat right now when it's convenient to distract Sabo, now I'm not, now I'm going to stop you, now you've shown me my courage." I get it, it makes sense, but it doesn't really tell us anything new -- hurr durr Luffy draws people to him, yeah, we get it, he's a shonen protagonist. We also already knew the navy had completely fucked internal organization and priorities. He essentially did everything Smoker did back in Alabasta, so I can see how the repetition, thematically clever as it is, can wear on some readers.

Sengoku intimated that losing Magellan would be a huge loss for the WG armed forces, implying that replacing him was essentially impossible on a realistic timescale. How long will One Piece go on? Keep in mind that the final arc, which is by no means within the next 2-3 (including this one) arcs, is going to be gargantuan. It just has to be. Too much must happen when the biggest players in the One Piece universe clash over the title of Pirate King--nay, over control over how the world itself is run. That's at least a 100 chapter arc, right there. That's at least 2.5 years of just the final few canon days, of the war we all know is coming.
Then there's the fact we've got at the very minimum WCI and Wano arc to get through. They're not small arcs; they're going to be lesser than Dressrosa, probably, but together? They're going to last at least 3 years.
If Oda didn't take breaks (and he needs to), we might be done in 6-7 years. But there's probably 40-42 chapters released each year, and more than 300 chapters remaining. Personally, I think there's more than that over the horizon--but the bottom line is, we're not getting done in five years or less.
With all the advancement that has taken place recently ("recently" being a relative term in itself), it's clear Oda's gearing up for the final confrontations. That, I won't dispute. It's just the scale of the narrative that's still missing. It's huge. The way I see it, we're going to see more and more breaks occurring as the years progress and fewer chapters per year. It may take a decade to get through the next 300-350 chapters.

I don't like arguing about power levels and powercreep but since armament haki was introduced there is a very noticeable shift. You can't look at this series straight on and not account for how the scale and scope changed through the years.

Trebol and Buffalo constantly made HURFADURR faces/sounds. Senor Pink's entire shtick (plus AAH~ HARDU BOILEDU) wore really thin, really fast. Pica's ridiculous voice was funny briefly, but combined with the fact that he spent 90% of his fight with Zoro effectively being a game of whack-a-mole rather than actually fighting back in any meaningful way, it neutered him as a villain. Baby 5 was fucking stupid in general. Machivise was yet another fat grinning fuck with no real personality. 2) Rebecca's arc involved her transitioning from a fairly likable character with a kind of cool fighting style (super defensive/dodging skills, using the opponent's strength against them) to a sobbing, helpless waif in a literal chainmail bikini. You don't have to be a feminist to find that shit obnoxious. The latter half of the arc could have done with about 75% less Rebecca.
3) The Tontatta Tribe plot did not need to happen. Tontattas did not need to exist. The arc would have been better off without them, and the Straw Hats could have teamed up with escaped toys/an underground resistance force/actual Resistance members instead. As it was, Tontattas were just one too many things in an arc that already had too many things.

4) I'm genuinely amazed that in an arc of Dressrosa's length, Oda felt that he had to ship half of the Straw Hat crew offscreen for three-quarters of the arc. Was he unable to come up with anything for them to do? God knows Dressrosa had enough named mooks for them to clash with. I would have rather seen more situations where Nami, Chopper, Sanji and Brook got to be useful than a lot of the scenes that we did get instead. I know that the continuing story required that the crew get separated, but I think that it could have been done closer to the end of the arc instead of as early as it actually happened.
5) I will never not be mad about Kyros' "Missing" leg. He stands, walks, runs, jumps, and fights as though he has two legs. The fact that he is literally missing a limb is never treated as any sort of disadvantage to him at all, and he is frequently drawn & animated as though he is walking normally... with one leg. If they said that Mansherry healed him or just gave him a goddamn pegleg or even a cane/crutch, I'd be okay with it, but the way it's (not) handled instead is frustrating and lazy. What was the point of even having him lose a limb in the first place?
6) [Bonus!] This is, as far as I know, an anime-specific issue, but I think it's worth mentioning anyway: Dressrosa's pacing in the show was absolute garbage. After the Birdcage, it got to the point where a solid 5-10 minutes of every episode were dedicated to falling buildings and panicking townsfolk, footage of which was sometimes even re-used. Like Luffy's 21-episode-long fight with Bellamy (which consisted of [bouncing intensifies] "BELLAMYYYYY!!!" ad infinitum), it was a lazy way of filling time, and it brought the quality of the anime down HARD. Several entire episodes worth of wasted time could have been cut out, and it would have made the arc much less of a joyless drag towards the end.

Even though I enjoyed Dressrosa to me it was obvious that Oda changed his original plans for the arc MULTIPLE times.
I genuinely believe he had better plans for Rebecca, like giving her the mera mera no mi but then he decided to change things and add Sabo.
The worst part of the arc was when it 'reset' with Pica thorwing everyone out of the palace and Doflamingo starting the bird cage. Oda realised he needed more time for the gladiators to develop and he also needed to hype Doflamingo as a threat more by making him punch Luffy a few times. However now this isn't a big deal because Dressrosa is over and can be read in one day rather than multiple years.
Which reminds me of another note, if you cunts haven't re-read One piece yet you completely should, it makes arcs you used to hate much more enjoyable. I even love the Davy Back arc now because of re-reading and abolishing the animes warped adaptation of it.

Forgot to mention the problems with Trebol.
His character and powers were inconsistent. Against Usopp, Robin and the dwarves he had crazy speed and strength, and Robin even ahd to save Leos life from Trebols sniping skills. But against Luffy & Law, Trebol was absolutely pathetic and fell into Law's 'pace' just like what Doffy does to his enemies.
Then there's Trebols devil fruit, he got bissected by Usopp making most people think he's a Logia, but then when he got defeated and was revealed to have a skinny body, it looked more like a paramecia who coated his substance around him. Neither make sense and his devil fruit category is still debatable to this day. The only way we'll now know is through an SBS so one of you autists better start mailing Oda.

I liked Dressrosa a lot, but it feels at time Oda went for more than he could chew. Some fights felt rushed because there were too many things to solve and to show at once. Why would Sabo not be the one to eat Ace's fruit? Why would he be introduced and not be the one to eat it. The revos had a role in Dressrosa beyond Sabo and Oda is also making them more relevant to the story (Introducing notable Revos, giving the BB pirates a reason to find Baltigo). I can't see at all why Sabo would be brought to Dressrosa and not be given Ace's fruit.
As for Pica, Oda often introduces plot devices to extend an arc/give characters more time to fight. Luffy getting swallowed by a Snake, having to chase Spandam, going ahead of the crew. This feels no different.

When Doflamingo was established as an underground broker, it makes sense that the Revos would be involved. When it was established that Sabo was alive, it makes sense he would appear to eat Ace's fruit.
