Her final "shokei" was so adorable, and so out of character as well. It actually sounded like the seiyuu joking among themselves rather than the characters speaking.
In the end the show turned out so lighthearted that even the characters with actual traumas got over them off screen for a happy ending.

I feel like I got nothing out of this show.
So, thematically, it's about the fact that sometimes we feel like we're getting fucked over by the world. Like we're the only ones in the world with all these terrible problems. But in reality, everybody around us has their own problems as well.
... okay.
So first of all building up an entire show around illustrating a single simple theme is usually a bad idea, and this show is a pretty perfect example of why that's the case. It ends up being too simplistic. Ninety-five percent of the people who watch this show are already going to understand this idea, that everybody else has problems too. Most people naturally realize that as they come into adulthood.
So what's the value in illustrating this notion to people who already get it? There isn't much of one. It's not some novel interesting idea. And that wouldn't be a problem if it weren't such a core component to the show. Everything is built up around the motive of illustrating this theme. One which is inherently obvious and simplistic.
A tiny sliver of your audience might actually learn something from the show, because they're either fourteen or such a deluded otaku that they don't have the most basic understanding of how reality works. And for them this show might be the greatest thing ever. But I'm obviously not in that category.
Nothing else about the show seems to matter. The plot is almost nonexistent, and just serves as a foil for this larger theme. The characters are incredibly important because they're the only thing that can be used to prevent this from being incredibly boring. And the characterization and all of their relationships are just chaos. You have your leads who all somewhere between boring and annoying, and then a whole slew of gimmick characters to keep the frame lively. Sometimes they're funny, rarely they're charming, etc.
Anyway, I didn't hate it while I was watching it, but I also won't remember it for more than a week.

I don't think I ever felt like it was trying to be super serious, but I also don't think it succeeds at all as a comedy either. There were certainly some funny elements to it, some funny character stuff, and even some nice gags, but it certainly wasn't funny enough for that to be its main appeal. It never seemed like it was taking itself seriously, which is obviously good because how could it? But it wasn't really irreverent or absurd enough for me to classify it as a comedy. If anything I'd say that it felt aimless in terms of tone. It all felt very matter-of-fact.
How can we make all those tier E and D characters relevant?

Remember, Pink Goddess came on the trip because he was overextended and just wanted to live his life carefree. Soy Latte is the only other responsible adult who went on the trip. If she had decided to leave, he would've been stuck caring for a bunch of idiots (albeit a smaller bunch) by himself.

Wanko did actually talk now and then, and he also helped look for Yottsun. In all honesty, Kiznaiver is a fair example of a 4/10 anime.
Its strongest merit lies in visuals. Its mentionable aspects are character designs, VA cast, and overall concept (in theory anyway, since in practice the concept turned out to be rather contrived).
I guess you could also say the soundtrack is alright, but I only base that on it not actively being annoying. It's just there. So yeah, Kiznaiver is one of those shows where an element that's "just there" is a point in its favor because so much about the show is pointedly grating.

I'm generally in the "enjoy it or don't enjoy it and that's all that there is to it" camp, but now and again I like to try and determine how I'd rate things just for the hell of it. It's a nice way to get my thoughts in order.
It also sometimes helps me realize aspects of a series I did appreciate even if I wasn't fond of the show overall. For instance, Aldnoah was physically agonizing to watch, but visually it was extremely consistent. There was never a QUALITY episode or specific shots that were just painful to behold from an aesthetic standpoint. So it's nice to pick out those positives from something that seemed negative at first.

I'd rather see you explain why it's slightly above average and not slightly below average. Oh, well, I already explained all the things I consider positive about it, but Mayoiga is a bore-fest full of stupid characters (and throwaway character) doing stupid things, like not subduing a girl who screams "EXECUTE", lusts for torture and actually assaulted one of the characters. It also constantly builds up to something with zero pay off, until you realize that it's supposed to be a horror anime and that was the spook. Monsters look ridiculous, there's absolutely no tension when show wants to be tense and instead you crack an unintentional smile because you realize what you are supposed to feel about this scene, but can't accept it because of how little sense it makes. Its morale is shonen manga filler arc simple and it makes zero attempts at hiding how rushed the ending is, characters at one point stopped talking like characters, they literally explain to you what writer's intention was by what just had occured. And finally, there's no reason to have such a large cast of characters because show simply doesn't use vast majority of them, only like 6 move plot in any way. I usually against killing off characters for cheap shock value, but at least it would've given to Mayoiga any value.

I mean, you have people rattling off their online handles and ridiculous motivations episode 1. Then characters like Jack and Lovepon acting out ridiculously in thinly-reasoned manner, while other characters like Masaki have their quirks just to separate them from each other, with no depth to their development at all. See that's the main issue a lot of people are failing to see.
Yes it didn't fully utilize its characters, yes the ending was a bit rush and fell flat.
But the main point of the show was to be funny, and it was. You had Mikage running on the tracks from a monster train because he fucked up his job, you had Mitsunae trying to rattle off why Masaki is a good girl while they're running for their lives like its a regular conversation, you the thing with Piitan/Manbe, and Lovepon as an entire character.
It was a comedy first and an everything else second. People who go in mistakenly expecting a horror or serious drama are of course going to be disappointed because it was never genuinely trying to be that, it was only trying to appear like that to make the ridiculous moments all the more ridiculous.
Like I said, I'm not using this to say its above having flaws, it definitely does, mostly towards the end where I feel like they originally didn't intend to have 12 episodes but ended up having it one reason or another.

Personally, I enjoyed Mayoiga's character designs. I thought it was neat that they stuck to more "realistic" hair colors and clothes, and even with those limits, I think they did a pretty good job making the characters unique. Any issues I had remembering who was who generally felt like they stemmed more from overcrowding and bad writing than issues with design.
