The original deal was that the artist for the VN was also the person in charge of coding/using renpy. So I offered to do it in RPG Maker to take some work off his shoulders (and because at the time I thought RPG Maker could do everything renpy could).
So it's not something I'm pushing for, but just showing what I could do to help out.

Python is really simple. I can do some basic coding with renpy, at least transferring the ready text from google docs or whatever into the vn. So that way there would be two of us, not to mention I'm sure you could learn it too, if you want to help. Unless we start doing some really strange interactive stuff renpy has decent manuals.

Not the game dev, but I can see relationships working like dating sims: You get a certain amount of points, or types of points, for what you say to them. Enemy (red) Friendship (blue) and Romance (Green/Purple). Again. Not game dev. I'm just throwing ideas around.
So if you had five speech options, one could insult a character, one could hit on them (which could backfire if your friendship isn't high enough), two could be neutral, and one could be a generally positive response.
