If Gon does appear, it should be at the half way point. I'd imagine that he'll begin to hit puberty or a growth spurt when we see him again. He's around the same age as Yusuke in chapter 1. It'd be funny if Killua stayed a manlet. Think of this arc as Gon's time skip while the adults handle their own business.
Even if he does appear it should be bits and pieces like him going off to train with Kite once Pika and friends make it to the DC.
