ハム太郎の飼い主で、人間側の主人公。小学5年生。12月15日生まれ[21]のいて座。愛称は「ロコちゃん」で大抵周囲からはそう呼ばれている。白いシャツの上に袖なしパーカーを着ており、青いショートパンツを履いている。茶色いショートヘアをツインテール状に黄色い髪留めで。一人称は基本的に「私」だが稀に「あたし」と言う。
明るく元気いっぱいで、おてんばなところもあるが心優しい性格の女の子。料理や勉強、絵は苦手だが、その反面運動神経がいい。父・ユメ太郎の仕事の関係で、大きな都会の町から現在の町(港南区東ヶ丘8-6-4)へ引っ越してきた。
転校初日に優しく接してくれた木村くんにしばらく片想いしていたが、第293話で想いを告げた。また、ロベルトのことも気になっている。
当然ながらハム太郎の言葉は理解していないが、意思疎通はあるようで、ハム太郎がロコちゃんの言葉を理解したり、第19話や劇場版第1作等でハム太郎に呼ばれた気がしたり、夢の中で何度かハム太郎やハムちゃんず達と会話したりしている。ただし、次回予告では普通にハム太郎と掛け合いで会話していた。
毎日寝る前に日記をつけており、書き終わるとハム太郎にお決まりの言葉をかけて就寝する。アニメ版では全てのエピソードでこの形式で締めくくられる。
なお、現在の家に引っ越す以前はマンション(芦戸市緑ヶ丘3-1-9 緑マンション)住まいだった。
