I never liked the inclusion of the samurai. References to lands outside of Britannia cheapen the conflict, since who knows how strong things like demons are on a global scale. The problem is that Escanor can only use that kind of power for a limited amount of time. I think peak Escanor should be stronger than Estarossa, but if Estarossa can stall for a while like Dolor and Glox managed to do against Mel he would eventually gain the upper hand. Mel also knew about their powers and was very aggressively trying to kill them, whereas daytime-Escanor is always pretty calm and overconfident.

We don't really know what kind of players exist in the world. The tournament arc introduced a handful of characters like the samurai that seem to be stronger than base Hendy and Dreyfus during the Liones arc. Of course he's nowhere near commandment level alone, but the Pleiades showed that it's possible to do some damage to a commandment if you work as a team. I recall Matrona also being somewhat similar to Galan in terms of power level so the giants might show some promise as well, not the mention the druids who have anti-demon abilities.
