I thought it was alright, but other people were touting it as the worthy sequel to the series. It was just okay.
I felt the buildup was fantastic, and some of the character analyses were great, but the climax was muddled. I feel people calling it a worthy conclusion are just the people who needed a happy ending.

What I hated was how they treated Gendo. I had no idea what they were doing with the character, and his whole death and aftermath didn't seem fitting.
I'm honestly tired of Eva. I was tired of it 10 years ago. It was unique and well written. But you can only obsess over something for so long. And between the movie, games and remake, it went full Star Wars.
As a Shnji/Asuka shipper faggot, I liked it. It was basically a bunch of shipper bait, but they made just enough horrible shit happen that you could believe it was actual Eva and not just bullshit fanfic.

A lot of bait about things going wrong when not and then going wrong.
I liked the part where Rei dumps red paint on herself and keeps saying "Anta baka?"
I liked the part where Shinji gets out of paying child support via nuclear missile.
But seriously, I've read much, much worse fanfiction than Re-Take. It had a sort of novel idea, interesting execution and wrapped up nicely. It had pretty effective drama and while the art was kinda weak and it could feel a little emotionally manipulative at times, for a fanfic, I'd definitely give it a passing grade.
