Probably following up the Mai x Trunks stuff from the movies. Yeah, different timelines, but I guess it's meant to show how they're still the same people even if their lives take different courses.
Super had cut the whole Mai x Trunks thing, but they're shown interacting next week, so they might be bringing it back.

Toriyama has always insisted on giving Bulma and Trunks the same hair color, while Toei rejected it.
It used to be purple for both, aside from one exception or another, but now, ever since he started working on the anime stuff directly, he goes with blue for both. Toei always changed his designs though, giving Trunks his old purple hair or keeping Bulma with blue or green hair in the old days. This time they didn't, and we haven''t gotten an official reason regarding that.
Maybe to differentiate both Trunks, since his VA was implying that we soon might see a more mature version of present Trunks too? Still, that's just speculation and it could be just character development with no physical aging.

Because for fictional characters physical age is what really matters the most. People often actually complain about young looking characters being involved with older men even if they're actually older than their partners, basically putting in the same loli category that actual little girls would get, doesn't matter the story excuse.

We do have that mysterious new Kaioshin for the new arc, and Black might not actually be a Saiyan. We also just finished an arc with some random new alien races.

In U6, Cabba mentioned that there was no galactic tyrant who rule the universe. In that outcome, saiyans are good people to serve and protect the citizens and never have sent saiyans out for planet exterminations at all.
Goku/Kakarotto did not sent to Earth(dead confirmed by Vados), therefore Goten/Gohan did not exist because Chichi is dead.
That should put that U6 Goten theory to rest for good.

And who made those Dragonball wish modifications? Dende. Which means, that the last time Pilaf Gang used the balls were at a time that Kami was still unfused.
The same shit can be applied to the Pilaf Gang of Future Trunks, sometime before Piccolo and Kami's deaths.
Taking in account both timelines, we can assume the Pilaf Gang of the current timeline made their wish during the start of the Android/Cell arc. However, that must mean that Shen Long fucked them hard and made them toddlers, since Kid Trunks was about a year old during that time.

The whole Goten is Black thing makes no sense either. Goten is a year younger than Trunks, he was most likely conceived right before the cell games, trunks is like a year old at that time. In the Future timeline Goku dies from the heart disease before the androids even showed up. Trunks goes back in time and warns everyone warns them of what would happen 3 years before the androids show up. This leaves a good 2 to almost 3 years between the time Goku dies and Goten is supposed to be conceived (this 3 year timeframe would also make sense for the pilaf gang to make their wish).

The real question is when will be get the doujins. I think this pairing might actually be the one that makes the most sense out of all the Dragon Ball pairings so far as well as the cutest.
I used to think Videl and Gohan was the best until Videl got stripped of her personality and Gohan became shit tier as a fighter, leaving the couple to be a very vanilla and boring ass family with not much dynamic.

I think it is because Toriyama went to give awesome directions for the new arc and the team in charge dropped the ball HARD. When I saw the shotgun, the first thing that came to my mind was "zombies of some type" or maybe "swarms of the bad guy's minions" but nope! no reason. Just shotgun. Also, why is this "black" character avoiding the shotgun shells? I mean, if Trunks, a motherfucking Super Sayan is running away from him, gunshots woud do him absolutely no damage whatsoever. The thing people mess up on with Trunks is how many times he time traveled. First jump was to three years before the Androids show up.
The second jump is from that point. He says he's going back to the future, but that's a lie. He goes from that point to three years later to see if things have changed in his interfering.
It's not until after the events of the Cell saga that he finally returns to the future and then makes his final jump to the past some years after killing the androids.
What's really confusing though is Trunk's very first jump caused a bunch of new timelines to spring into existence. Not just the current one, but also the one that Cell came from in the first place.

I guess if he were making a generic statement about THAT time, then using 17 years makes sense, as that's basically what he remembers it as.
