I don't understand why being a glass cannon is a bad thing. Getting a decisive first strike and staying out of range is a great tactic. Yeah it's not a complete strategy without support, but it doesn't stop them from being stupidly useful. It's like criticizing a tank for not having enough damage. That's not their job.
