That's a nice idea on paper but it's ruined by Toei/Toriyama thoughtlessly adding more and more powerups. Goku should be like 20 times stronger than Beerus right now if Super Saiyan hadn't been unofficially nerfed, and yet they still think it's a good idea to add MORE power multiplier boosts like the Kaioken.
So even the "good" things Super does are executed incompetently, and end up being bad.

It would have been better if someone with a grudge against Goku wished with the dragonballs that he would lose all his power or could never go super saiyan again or something like that. Basically a wish that made him reset to base Goku. Then he has to learn everything over again, even trains with the characters that ave been useless for years now, making them no longer useless since they are now technically stronger than Goku
Throw in an episode where Gohan trains him, or an episode where he actually spends spouse time with Chichi, or an episode where he takes Goten to school or something, have him actually be sad about losing all his power because Goku is almost never anything but happy go lucky, have him fight in the tournament with normal humans again and make the fights technical like they used to be in Dragonball, basically a series where Goku gets to see the world from the side character z fighters perspective
of course he gets his powers back eventually and rekts everything again but still
I have no problem with them trying to go SoL and it even presents an oppurtunity to answer questions fans have had for years about what the characters do when theyre not in a conflict but Super has been hit or miss and most of it has been miss

The Universe 6 arc was great, because it seemed as if they were reaching the upper threshold of power with SSB, gimmicks were back, shit was interesting again...Then they shit the bed with SSB Kaio Ken, Hit not being a gimmick, and Black Goku said to be more powerful than SSB Goku. The series wasn't about a mad race for power there for a good while, now it looks like DBS's first arc is literally just going to be a retread of the Saiyan Saga where there's a big bad and they train to kill it.

SSB completely replaces the original SSj levels.
The difference is that they can now access divine ki and push into elder kai + levels of power. (To the point where they can fight in the same ballpark as the God of Destruction)
We don't know yet if Goku/Vegeta can push the transformation farther into Super Sayian 2 and Super Sayian 3 type transformations. I'm betting they can and eventually will.
The big twist is that Goku can now use the Kaioken with the SSB transformation. It'll be VERY interesting to see just how powerful he gets once he's able to preform a x20.
