Saying that San Hai was the weakest of the three seasons isn't saying much. It was still very enjoyable.
Also the 6 minute silent vignette with all the allusion to Tom and Jerry was fantastic.

The source material for San Hai, some later chapters of the manga, is the best out of all 3 seasons.
The direction, comedic timing, production values, OP, ED, animation, scenario, palette, etc etc, is BY FAR the worst out of the 3 seasons.
The poor direction and comedic timing from a staff that clearly has little experience with comedy anime, in particular, was really detrimental.
S1 and S2, while animating poorer source material, are better on this account. Dogakobo always delivered.
