I don't know, scans maybe never actually, but I have been able to find some info from the book by digging through twitter and there were a couple of surprises.
Zed is 13 fucking years old, Abe Sapien was shota all along.
Leo is 19, so people that speculated he was in his 20s based on alcohol laws were incorrect, but I flipped back through the manga and he's never actually shown drinking alcohol anyway (I think people thought his 7Up can was a beer), so I guess that line of reasoning was wrong to begin with, although I wonder how he got that Jack Daniel's in the volume 10 climax.
Chain is only 21 so either she hit the bottle hard as soon as she could, or alcohol laws are meaningless to werewolves, or she just didn't give a fuck. And she has a normal birthdate (February 6th) so I guess she wasn't born in the Beyond or else they also use the Gregorian calendar.
Neyka is 23.
Leo is much taller than I thought, 161cm (5'3"). Nightow draws him shorter than he is.
There's only 1cm difference between Leo and Michella (161cm and 160cm).
Chain's height is shorter than Leo's despite consistently being drawn taller than him in both the anime and manga so she must wear high heels or it's a misprint.
Doug is apparently taller than Klaus.
Michella is only 16 and I have a really hard time imagining Toby being a teenager so I guess statutory rape laws don't exist in the Kekkai universe. Sasuga, Nightow, wouldn't be the first time.

Still don't see why they made the finale as long as they did. There was a lot of fat in there. They probably really only needed 30 minutes of runtime to do it well and even a cutting out bits for a rushed pace would still have worked better. It was on the opposite end of the spectrum for a screwed up BONES finale.

There's an official english release, but I've spotted at least a couple mistranslations in it, and they're bad at conveying the jokes sometimes. I've been scanning the volumes myself at a glacial pace but I can only translate simple sentences, I have no confidence in my grasp of nip grammar.

There's a plot, or rather a finale, but it's not really what the show is about and I wouldn't watch it just for that. If you don't enjoy the cast fucking around in the city and having episodic adventures on its own merits then the show probably isn't your thing.

Trigun is one of my favorite manga, and I think the anime is pretty well done too, so I had high hopes for this. Unfortunately by the end I think it was just decent.
The art direction is fucking great and the OST is probably the best thing about the show if not at least top three.
I really like the characters too; they're varied, and the premise of the show allows for whacky comedic situations that balance the darker aspects of the show.
I think the problem was the over-arching plot, especially with an anime that would only have a limited amount of episodes.
For that reason I guess you can compare it to Cowboy Bebop which was also episodic with an overarching plot but CB was twice as long and so had more episodes dedicated to that overarching plot.
It was just really weak. The final battle is underwhelming and most of it was shown in the first episode. The villain's motives aren't really made too clear. It just seems like there's a lot that wasn't properly explained.
Overall it's a decent 6/10.

I can see the similarities to Cowboy Bebop's more light-hearted episodes, but I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. Cowboy Bebop was an anime original and KS was an adaptation of an ongoing manga about the day to day lives of the characters, the "plot" had minimal focus for a reason and it's because that's not what the premise is, it was meant to provide closure more than anything. Focusing more on the setup for the finale would have tread on the manga material which was the real charm of the series. The finale itself was kind of weak, I'll give you that but I still think the episodes that weren't anime original hold up fine. How do you feel about the older Lupin III series with next to no plot?
