Generally if you ask "why did 4kids change the name?" It's to make it sound more western. Even if you think it doesn't or the name was western enough as is; it's probably the answer.
Although now that I think about it, they also changed Zoro to Zolo in the one piece dub because they were afraid of getting sued by the Zoro estate. Perhaps they think someone copyrighted one or both of those names?
