Toriyama wanted Bulma and Trunks to have the same hair color, he always wanted that. Back when he was doing the manga, they both had purple hair. Toei were the ones that fucked it up in the anime. When Goku turned Blue there was never any sense of actual threat from Frieza, like he could actually get one over Goku.
Did not help that they had to try to come up with an excuse not to have Buu there, as if acknowledging Buu would just wreck Frieza's army by himself.
The sense of danger is lost even further just by having fucking Beerus there. No matter what he says, having supreme antagonist Frieza drop his fudge at the sight of Beerus, regaining his composure only after Beerus said he wouldn't interfere does not a credible villain make.
The sudden shock of Goku being cheap shotted is quickly lost when Vegeta steps in and very quickly takes over Goku ' s role in stomping Frieza.

I finally decided to go back and watch GT recently thanks to all the "Apologize now." posts and shit, and my god.
The opening arc was an interesting journey I guess, but the characters were infuriating. Baby arc was okay but the climax was horseshit, SSj4 was jobbing right after he got it. Super 17 was just the Janemba movie with Android 17 and holy fuck. The Shadow Dragons.
I've heard people say The Shadow Dragons arc is really good and the best part of GT, but goddamn. Half of the Shenrons are fucking stupid, like Botamo stupid. Mole Shenron? Super Saiyan 4 Goku literally putting the earth back in place after Mole Shenron's wacky antics? Not to mention the characters don't even seem to be moving in the fights half the time and the artstyle is ugly as sin. The final fight against Omega was.. okay. Watching Gogeta play around was pretty stupid though.

Beerus alone makes Super far better than GT. Then you consider Whis, Vados, Champa, Jaco, etc. and there's really no contest.
GT characters are shit, both the new ones and returning ones - especially Goku. Forcing him to be a kid again was a far worse character defilement than anything in Super. I agree/disagree on designs themselves, I think some of the villains and that look good but the rest of the characters and transformations are pretty shit. The art is one thing I just can't agree on. Super might be shiny and plastic but GT just looks like so much ass it's not funny. It's also frequently off model as well, much like Super. They are both bad, but GT just looks like what a korean DBZ bootleg would look like, I imagine, at least Super resembles the artstyle they've been going with for a while now.
I don't think there's anything "pityful" about Goku, he's a retard but he's a lot of fun. The scene with the tractor during the Satan fight comes to mind. Vegeta is eh. Uub power up is better scene than any of Super. The way the camera is used, the little wind and light effects, the music- everything comes together beautifully.

The only times Super looked good were Beerus and Goku's fight which doesn't help because the arc is fucking bad. And some parts in the Champa arc, which was the only thing that saved the arc from being trash.

Some of the Goku vs Frieza fight looked pretty good too.
But with that said.. that's not a horrid record when it comes to DB and how much QUALITY it has. I don't know why people are acting like it is, maybe they just haven't watched the older stuff in a while, like GT, where half the fights in the Shadow Dragon arc barely make the characters look like they are moving.

Because GT didn't need the animation to save a bad story. That the only thing the ones defeding Super are saying for Champa arc, t-there was a scene of ten seconds of decent animation.

I'm saying that he wasn't holding his POWER back, he was fighting casually because he was enjoying it.
It was completely different than when he fought Frieza on namek, or Buu. It was very comparable to when he fought Cell, only the power difference was a lot bigger against Cell, and Cell didn't burn out.
