The problem with Black Clover is that it's just a bad imitation of other popular Shonen manga that have already done everything it's trying to do. You can clearly see where it draws it's inspiration from in the first chapter (Naruto most glaringly, but also One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach, etc) Who also take inspiration from each other, but they all do it in different and unique ways. Black Clover is too insistent on following in the footsteps of these manga, which is fine, but it doesn't spin it in any interesting way, which ends up leaving it as just plain, boring, played out garbage

I know that. In the start it was Naruto with the underdog wants to be the king and the silent rival, then it was Magi with dungeons coming in completely out of the left. I can see Fairy Teail with magic but the magic in this series seems a lot more interesting but the orders are also actually under the kings command instead of guild doing whatever the hell they want.

The plot is stultifyingly boring and predictable.
Some of the characters however are pretty fun and Tataba if anything is competent at paneling and composition. Black Clover is nowhere near the visually unreadable clusterfuck that say, One Piece has become.
I read it for:
-Yami, because he's the best boss/leader character in a long long time. Him complaining about being saved because he was gonna unlock his hidden powers got a legitimate belly laugh out of me which no series currently in WSJ has done.
-The Black Bulls actually generally being complete street trash. I know that Jaimini's Box is taking NiggaStream levels of liberty with the translations but the Bulls generally being foul-mouthed street-talking trash (Aster screaming, "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW, BITCH!?" like 2-3 times seems fitting) just works insanely well.
-Tataba draws some seriously nice and soft titties and asses. Mmph.
