Also it makes no difference to watch 1080 on a 720 screen, you obviously won't be able to tell the difference though. If hdd space is the question it probably doesn't make a huge difference unless it was for a 4+ cour show or something.

What's the point of upscaling a 720p video to 1080p then uploading that for people to torrent? It just wastes bandwidth and space. I don't understand why it happens. It's extremely rare for anime to get animated in 1080p and the upscale isn't any better than what your video player will do automatically when you go full screen on a 720p video.

Are monitors below 1080p even sold today? Get a job and upgrade you lazy bum.

He's probably got a laptop.

A lot of anime are mastered in something like 900p nowadays. You'd lose data by just making them 720p like usual.

Laptops for poor people have cancerous 769p or something screens.
>tfw you have to download 100 GB 1080p subs because only 1080p downloads are freeleech

a lot of BD's are 1080p native, even if the shows were animated at 720p. some encoders can't be assed to resize them back down
on a tangentially related note, grabbing horriblesubs 1080p and then resizing the player to 720p in certain cases is a better idea than getting the already-scaled version due to the increase in bitrate. in other cases it doesn't make enough of a difference to merit the extra HD space

I can't tell a difference between 720p and 1080p.
