Do you like childhood friend characters /a/? What appeal that they usually have over other heroine roles? Why do they appear so often in anime and manga but rarely wins the protagonist's love when other heroines are present?
Because The childhood friend has been with the protagonist since they were children. If the childhood friend didn't take this opportunity, then he/she has a high chance of being friend zoned
Osama jimmies are the worst thing to come to anime, especially when they just keep being just friends

It's kind of like the Seven Year Itch. Part of what makes a romantic relationship so exciting and intense in the beginning is the newness and unfamiliarity of the entire experience. To a slightly lesser degree, there's the genetic predisposition to avoid romantic relationships with people one knows before puberty, which is a mechanism humans evolved to avoid mass inbreeding amongst immediate family members. In this case, the childhood friend is an unintentional casualty.

What if you've known them since you were born?

Is this a good read?

I'd say it's good, at the very least I was always looking forward to the translations. It has three sets of main characters so you never really get tired of seeing a character too much since they mix it up more.
Their personality is too bland when compared to other heroine, as childhood friends often symbolize the old, boring life of the MC before the show starts, unless when there are a bunch of them around and the producer have to add additional quirks to them so the audience can differentiate one childhood friend with another, which makes them more interesting.
What if everyone is a childhood friend?

One osananajimi wins while the rest of the osananajimi lose. Or a additional girl pops up in the middle of the show and makes all the osananajimi lose. Sounds like a fair trade.
Are a tomboy's chances of winning improved if she's a childhood friend?

No, they usually suck bricks.
