I know I posted this yesterday but the reality of the matter is, I still can't stop saying it.

I don't think the movement was too fast. I liked how they gave you a bad impression on him at the end of the last episode (plus hints in the episodes before it) and in this one they just kept dropping more and more circunstancial evidence every three minutes until they finally just straight up broadcast it and make it obvious at the end.
It was cool how they showed themselves capable against the zombies, too. I thought for sure there was gonna be some twist where he has some sort of human sacrifices to serve as bait or something. But nope, it's just him and his team systematically destroying all of them.

無名に橋を下ろさせ、狩方衆がカバネをおびきよせ街を襲来させる
美馬に対しずっと刃を向けていた領主の従事たちを殺しにかかり、
物分かりがよさげな領主にまで刃を向けたので部屋にあった刀を取り美馬に向けた菖蒲様に対し
滅火が短剣を投げたが侑那が楯になって負傷
結局領主は殺され、菖蒲様と侑那は克城へ連れて行かれる
予告にあった無名が絶望する表情は、
街中で母子がカバネに襲われそうな所を無名が鉄下駄で殺したが

Kabaneri is vastly more tolerable than SnK, especially when it comes to their MCs.
Eren is an impotent, incompetent ball of seething rage and hatred who would be utterly useless (and dead) if not for his convenient titan-shifting ability.
Ikoma is sometimes stupidly stubborn, but is overall reasonably competent, intelligent, and likable. His motivation is more focused on optimism for the future, rather than dwelling in impotent rage over his past, his attempts to help are actually useful. His attitude towards Bibi is kind of dumb, but it makes sense given that all the messed up views Mumei mentions, along with the fact she's a Kabaneri that was never bitten. He knows something's wrong with Bibi, and he just keeps grasping at straws until he finds something that confirms his suspicions.
SnK also has a bad habit of stretching simple plot points way too long (what's in the fucking basement?) and introducing named characters only to kill them off for cheap drama 3 episodes later, expecting us to actually care this time.

You do realize that Eren being heavily flawed like you described doesn't actually make SnK a bad show, right?
His will and desire for freedom might be meant to represent what humanity has lost, but his overall obnoxious attitude has never been positively recieved or endorsed neither by the author nor by Eren's peers (whether his friends, fellow trainees or superiors), and for each mistake he makes he's always severly punished by the narrative.
Same with his role whithin the military: he doesn't mind being used as a tool to forward the survey corps' objectives because that's just how convinced he is of his own usefulness, and yet the deaths he indirectly causes do start to take (slowly but surely) their emotional toll on him.
Levi's squad (just like Eren's mom) was merely a plot device meant to illustrate author's point about choices and consequences, not characters that you were actually supposed to care about beyond "Holy shit, FT's one cruel bitch!" (that's with the exception of Petra who got popular because she has a vagina, you'll hardly remember their names).
The pacing issues exist in the manga as well and became even more noticeable in animated format, no arguing with that.

It's just this one fucking thing that keeps showing up and grinding my gears it's STILL insufferable. And, I mean, I get it. Watching girls get hit is sad. If there's one thing Kabaneri has, it's polish. The show doesn't need to plod along with too exhaustive studies of the characters because there's just a million indications of each of their mindsets and personalities strewn amidst the constant action, fitting seamlessly into it. You might not have realized it, but Biba has been hinted at from the very beginning and his methodology was already demonstrated well before his introduction when Mumei met the former Ear, the amputee.

Because why not? Ikoma immediately presented himself in opposition to Biba and the most efficient way to take care of an opposing force is to add it to ones own. So of course Biba tried to bring him over to his side - it's what he always does with everyone to start out.
Biba gives people what they want, even if it's a lie, because the reality is pretty ugly. The truth is, Biba is not a complex person - he is kind of just a picture of mental illness. He only cares about his own survival and to ensure his own security, he likes flexing control over others. Under all the charm, there's really not much else there.

I think the major difference is that Akio is sociopathic by nurture, while I feel like Biba might've just been born that way, hence the Shogan trying to get him, his own son, killed. This may not be the case and he may very well have a backstory for why he threw away his conscience, though.
And yeah, of course Akio's whole modus operandi is a lot more sexual, albeit in an oblique metaphorical way, while Biba emphasizes the casual sadism. The principle is the same, though - they're self-interested predators who effortlessly project a totally inauthentic outward persona.
I doubt Biba molested Mumei, even though the brother-sister dynamic is pretty damn similar to Akio and Anthy. I think that'd cause too much a shitstorm among waifufags, for one. The sex thing is deemphasized and substituted for violence/sadism because that's really just the sort of show Kabaneri is in comparison to Utena, frankly. Admittedly, I confess to being a filthy anime-only fag, but when it comes down to it, I just don't enjoy watching Eren. He's powerless to the point of being useless, except for his titan-shifting, which he can barely control. Like the scene where he first puts on the 3d maneuver gear to get the feel of it, and fails, and tries again, and fails, and tries again, and fails, and after trying again and again, it's revealed the thing was broken the whole time. It doesn't come across as 'wow, against all odds Eren doesn't give up!' it comes across as Eren being like a dumb kid trying to imitate karate chopping through a wood plank on a random 2 by 4 he found in his garage, and trying it again and again until he's broken his hand. I'm not watching SnK for thematic depth, as it's thematic content doesn't make up for the fact that it's not remotely enjoyable to watch.
Eren's stubborn, relentless, and largely impotent hatred of titans locks him on a path where he runs into failure again and again, and by the end of the series he's still accomplished next to nothing. Meanwhile, something as simple as Ikoma's steam bullets could ultimately make a significant difference in his world. I think that's the big distinction. In SnK, all the actions we've seen so far seem largely futile, as the titans are still an impossible, inevitable foe. In Kabaneri, there's some hope there that what these characters are doing could actually make a difference down the line. It's an overall small difference, especially given how otherwise similar the two are, but I find it makes a huge difference in actually making it enjoyable to watch.

Biba is astoundingly sick in the head and Mumei's relationship with him so entirely trumps hers and Kajika's that it's almost heart-wrenching.
Like... this is the divergence in depth between the relationships of Mumei and Kajika and Mumei and Ikoma. Episode 7, in a 12 second scene, Mumei goes shopping with Kajika and they hardly even talk - Mumei mostly just watches. Same episode, Ikoma and Mumei have a five minute heart-to-heart about things Mumei would not tell anyone else.

The narrative implications of their relationship could not be more clear. Mumei and Kajika do not even have THAT level of development, and Mumei and Ikoma are seen tagging along together more often; this is possibly more a matter of circumstance for most of the story, given they're the two kabaneri. So even if we ignore the societal preconceptions of "pedophilia", it doesn't seem like a very good idea at all for those two to be dating. There are expectations in a relationship, and partners should try to ensure they are of similar mental states so as to save them much grief and heartache down the road when such a relationship crashes.
