I thought the author deleted Aisha Arc.
>>142375915
It wasn't intentional, but that just makes it better. The finale also has all of the other potential fates for him coming together to help him, including oyakodon end and sexy mad scientist end.
Also it seems to be widely accepted in-setting by the other women that there's no way in hell he's going to be faithful.
>>142376668
That's why I'm translating it.

>>142376753
They hook up in the second to last volume, but there's only 8 so it doesn't drag out too long. Also the series goes by a format for three sets if main characters, though Shinobu(the guy in the pic) is the "main" main character. The other two sets are a detective who attracts middle school girls and then the older sister of one of said middle school girls who is sort of a supernatural mercenary. I should also add the detective and mercenary are both fully grown adults if you're sick of it always being high school students.
Wasn't a sequel to this supposed to be developed with a different MC? When will it be written?

Trying to find regular jap fantasy is pretty hard nowadays due to the flood of narou and syousetu stuff getting turned into LNs and published seeing as the majority of those are isekai or reincarnation things.
>>142378502
>If it’s taken as a given that people cheat their way to the top in society, then in order for a narou protagonist to succeed, he needs to be placed into a world where his own particular skills can be used as cheats.
>It’s no surprise, then, that the vast majority of isekai stories are based on JRPG-inspired worlds, particularly the pseudo-medieval settings of the Dragon Quest series and the early Final Fantasy games.
>It also explains why everything seems to fall into place for these narou protagonists as soon as they figure out the “trick” to succeeding – and why very few of them ever manage to achieve conventional success in their own worlds, even at the end of their stories.
>Umetsubame explained this cynicism is a result of the current social climate. Japan is past its economic bubble, there is no job security for young people, and in order to get hired you need to bury your individuality. Instead of pathologising narou fans, he points to society’s arbitrary standards of success as the underlying problem. You can work and work and work, but still be laid off your job. Narou stories function not only as escapist fiction, but also as an affirmation of this particular worldview.
>>142379133
They seem to be under the impression people can't self insert if the main character isn't from Japan and doesn't try to be at least somewhat genre savvy.
>>142379194
Try Nanasawa's stuff, closest to regular fantasy stuff I've read in a while, flame ring and girl that ate a deathgod are mostly civil war stuff with low magic elements so have fun with those.

Yeah there's so much stuff being churned out I'm honestly at a loss whenever I want to get into something new.
Sometimes I like the art, then read some preview introduction and cringe at how fanfiction level the writing is.
I'm bad at this stuff, where do japanese people get LN information from when they're looking to start some new series?
>>142377228
Probably just a one shot made for a magazine. It's written by Kamachi, but it's not on his page, so.
Art is by the Blood Sign artist.
Why does Aisha look exactly the same now as she did five years ago?
>>142377218
It didn't work so well as Usagi Drop and had to take several absurdly convoluted turns to reach that point, so it's fine.

I just dive in into things and see if it manages to repulse me. There's also a thing with a beastman mercenary and witch shimikaze that seems to be pure fantasy with no isekai or reincarnation stuff, seems pretty decent so far, thing is it's getting translated by Nanodesu so I'm going to be old and grey before it's done.

Stuff with girl MCs (that arent gender bender) tend to be higher quality for some reason.
MT just has the advantage of being fully translated.
I personally like Akuyaku Tensei Dakedo Doushite Kou Natta. in addition to the other stuff mentioned for one example.
>>142378987
Just because it features a protagonist who came from our world doesn't mean it can't be regular fantasy. The dealbreaker is JRPG or MMO elements

It was basically the first isekai to become popular on /a/ and it got very rapid translations. Stuff like that tends to generate popularity regardless of the quality. Remember when Terra Formars got basically speedscanned and /a/ wouldn't shut up about it for a few weeks before it petered off? Or when Tomo-chan showed up and continued going with daily threads?
Things that produce a lot of content quickly generate interest, that's just how it is. Now that more isekai works are being adapted and translated, MT's overall quality is easier to see in comparison.
MT also has some other positives; it has quite an interesting start if you're into worldbuilding, for example.
>>142380325
At least we have Mr lyle.
>>142379403
Speaking of Blood Sign I hope js06 gets back to that sometime, I read what was translated but didn't realize he didn't finish the first volume so now I have proverbial blue balls. I liked what was there despite the massive info dumping because of the White Queen and Kyousuke felt like how I imagined post-NT10 Touma to act with personal experience about why you don't stick your dick in crazy.
>Read the web novel
>It is written horribly, with no subtlety or tact whatsoever
>It's already a published LN and manga, with even the possibility of an anime

There are two other series by the same author in the same universe. one seems to be new from what I recall while the other has a decent bit of chapters but not enough translations.

It's technically a reincarnation story but she can't remember most of her past (human) life outside of tiny snippets to begin with. I'm having a little difficulty describing what's actually good without spoilers. Just keep in mind that no matter how soft and fluffy she seems she is still a demon.

Yuru is pretty scary now that I think of it.
>>142380644
Not entirely sure yet, the translations haven't gotten through the first volume and it was still only showing small glimpses of the back story of his relationship with the White Queen. Whatever it was turned into a disaster since he's got some PTSD, and it had something to with why the summoning ceremony is so roundabout and complex.

I liked it, and statistically speaking I'm likely better than you so there is that
>>142381018
There was a side story in Death god featuring the hero that it sounds like you might have missed.
The tone while similar is slightly different but that's more due to it being different chapters than anything possibly due to there being so few of the hero chapters translated and it's being crossed over with death god. There's not much of a way to make a chapter anything but completely depressing for a character that runs into scheera before the prologue.
>>142380614
Unless you are a nip in nip land I doubt anything you write would ever upgrade to anything but some guy's shitty web fiction.
>>142380644
It has a bigger chance of being translated now that js06 is one SS away from being done with Zashiki Warashi. There's still some other Kamachi stuff untranslated though, I wonder what he's going to prioritize.
For real though, MT is the best
>>142378868
Er Gen tends to run his jokes into the ground and grind them into dust through repetition in ISSTH, though. I'd say ATTE is a bit better in the humor department so far.
>>142378381
I liked it until Rudeus married the three, since at that point the characters started flattening at supersonic speed.
>>142380112
I like Akuyaku, though I'm still waiting to see if the author realized that there's a damn good reason why people don't usually fucking use salt as pesticide.
>>142381719
It'll probably come up at some point, Akuyaku is pretty autistic when it comes to details. Wish I could find more LN illustrations of it besides the cover.
>>142380231
>Eh, a good writer can salvage anything, just look at stuff like Lazy King.
That's mostly because the reincarnation thing and MMO mechanics basically meant jack shit. You could replace most of the lingo with typical high fantasy equivalents and absolutely nothing would change.
>>142374128
The series went to shit after he started working with Orsted.
>>142381333
Which brings up the question: Why do western publishers and readers not understand the LN genre? Surely there are teens which would read this stuff in the west, if a western author wrote it.

Any one know how well the Mushoku Tensei light novels are translated? I'm tempted to buy the paperbacks on amazon.
>>142381937
He mostly does that during the week right? I know he was updating Zashiki on the weekends, so he'll probably start doing BooBoo or Blood Sign now instead. I did manage to ask about Blood Sign while back and js06 said he just didn't care for the MC at first but he started to like him more by volume 2.
>>142381569
How good truly is ISSTH? I've only read Doulou Dalou and Coiling Dragon (which writing declined horribly after the first few arcs, finished it anyways). I've read the first couple of chapters and by the synopsis and comments it sounds like the author repeats the same formula over and over and over.
>>142381937
Well, yeah, of course. I was considering only Kamachi works, since js06 has been doing both his and Kawakami's novels at the same time for ages now.
>>142381890

So long as you say something as if it's an insignificant detail then people tend to not pickup on how terrifying, barbaric, or horrific it should be.

>>142381650
It's amazing how fast one loses interest when characters actually get together. Then again, MT was already running on fumes by the time Rudeus was in the magic academy. I dropped it after Sensei was added to the harem after papa Greyrat was kill.
The childhood and Boyhood arcs were the height of it, in my opinion; there was a kind of charm to watching a boy with the mind of a 40 year old neet explore a fantasy world with a cute, feisty redhead that had one of the best tsun to dere transition I've read, along with a no nonsense uneducated demon guy with the most feared reputation.
It had a good slice of life feel and never dragged on too much without something happening.
Afterwards it just stagnated as more misfit side characters were added and redhead was gone along with the charm.

I thought Dark Rudi had to murder Perugius to get the dragon magic he used for time travel
It was at this point that Meng Hao opened his eyes and looked out of his log cabin. Approaching slowly on foot was a somewhat emaciated looking middle-aged man. His body emanated the ancientness of time, and he was very thin. There was a ruthlessness to him, which presently seemed to have been replaced by complex emotions.
The ripples of a Nascent Soul cultivation base spread out from him, and when Meng Hao saw him, many different feelings filled him along with a sense of reminiscence.
As he walked up slowly, his appearance caused many of the surrounding disciples to be shocked.
“That’s…………………….

No, he got the time travel magic from studying the dragon ruins. The reason he would have had to kill Perugius was the get the treasure to open the door to Hitogami. He didn't want to kill Perugius because he was the only one he could discuss the good old times with so he opted to try time travel instead

Honestly, Mushoku Tensei has the best world building and lore I've seen in a reincarnation series.

>How good truly is ISSTH? I've only read Doulou Dalou and Coiling Dragon (which writing declined horribly after the first few arcs, finished it anyways). I've read the first couple of chapters and by the synopsis and comments it sounds like the author repeats the same formula over and over and over.
I shall seal the heavens is fucking amazing.
It is a little slow to start (too much pill popping in the beginning, but he corrects that mistake pretty quickly). But no where near the 100 chapters that other /a/non talks about. It's written by a different author then the hacks who wrote Doulou Dalou and coiling dragon (actually coiling dragon does get better in the 2nd half but the author is definitely not good).
and Gen Er (the author of ISSTH) has a wicked sense of humor. He's also very patient with his jokes, and is willing to spend hundreds of pages building up to the punchlines of them.
Furthermore Ming Hao is perhaps one of the top 5 main characters in any novel i've read. Gen Er knows how to write a top class MC. He's so different from the MCs you usually see in xanxia or wuxia novels. It helps the translator team is actually pretty fucking good (better then the scrubs we get for the nip shit), sorta blows most WN/LN clean out of the water on every level.

no way in hell.
The dark version of rudy never made the top 7 powers list. people shit on non alt-history version of rudy, but you all forget he actually soloed the north god (and no, the north god was not "weakened"), something AT Rudy would never have managed.
The only reason real version rudy managed to win was because he finally stopped looking for a way out, and went into a battle 100% without an escape plan. The willingness to fight to the death with someone else was something that old rudy lacked.
He never even had that resolution when hitogami forced him into a battle with ordsted. As he had ejection seats and still was looking for a way to live even at the end of the battle.

>liking Meng Hao
The series does a really good job making him easy to relate to even though he basically turns into every other xianxia MC later on who is super aggressive and calculating. But thats kind of because everyone around him is a huge dick.
The story is fun as shit and gets better and better though. You can drop it around chapter 30 if you don't like it since thats pretty much as good as it gets as a series.
If you want something with more literary merit and world building, World of Cultivation is in a similar vein to ISSTH. I suggest anyone at all into xianxia get to chapter 10 at least because its one of those really deep stories that snowballs into itself and feels like a really good fantasy story.

The only romance worth a damn in MT was Eris.
Sylphy just had a childhood crush because she was treated nice and it was stupid as fuck because she was like 10.
Roxy was the first girl Rudeus got familiar with and taught him magic and the power of going outside before fucking leaving him until Rudeus is like 17 and she's saved by him, she later gives him a "Dad just died" pity fuck and then she's just like. "I won't do any better than you, I don't mind being third place in your harem."
Eris is where it's at; it took a life and death situation just to get her to listen to him and actually let him do his job and later it developed over 2 years while they were trying to survive in that world's version of Australia, the author played all that shit down by making her leave and shoving a harem down our throats.

She wasn't all that OP, she just had a chance to learn under a bunch of world rankers and contenders. Ghyslaine alone was near Emperor level, and Gul Farion already implied Eris was Emperor level to begin with when he gave her the license of mastery, which not even his other students had.
She was always talented, her original time line however never gave her the chance to improve herself to such lengths.
But that's all she is, even if she ever reached God-rank, she would be lower than the likes of genuine geniuses like Jino Blitz, and Aleksander Ryback III, let alone Orsted.
Besides, people are looking at Rudi the wrong way. His strength is in how he is capable of dabbling in everything, while Eris was solely focused on one area, two if you count fucking.
People are just being retarded and ignoring that life has much more than just your fighting min/max stats. Rudi is very OP in that regard but mainly cause it's an Isekai and he worked rather hard for a former neet.

I also thought that having such a cute kid as a daughter in law wouldn't be bad, but when I listened to Rudeus today I changed my mind.
Right now the situation is about the level of brainwashing.
they don't tell rudeus they suspect him of brainwashing, but they suspect him of brainwashing

>That's one thing that always bugged me about Rudi, he pretty much left behind all the baggage from his past life instantly.
That's not true at all, but I understand where you are coming from. He didn't leave the baggage behind, he intentionally chose to ignore it. He HATED his past life, and took many steps to ignore it and constantly use it as a reminder to work harder.
The biggest example of this coming back and the story forcing him to face his past is Paul's death, and you can't fucking deny that at all given how hard it's spoon fed. He's not like Ainz, where he had some form of attachment, he's still been running on 'escapism' mode the whole time, just that he was productive about it.
It's only after Paul's death that he started actually paying attention to his baggage in the past, and that comes in the form of Nanahoshi and how he helps her, and writes a letter to his parents for her to take to their own world.
Another more subtle instance is how despite him literally fapping to his loli niece in the original WN in chapter 1, his body no longer feels a damn thing for family members. That's part of his trauma, though unlike the other issues I've mentioned, he never realizes it and that's actually realistic. A person shouldn't always know everything about their baggage, nor be able to address it over their life time no matter how much they pay attention to themselves. Plus it wasn't hindering him, so he didn't pay it much attention.
It wasn't plentiful, and it wasn't spoon fed to you all the time, that's definitely true. But it was addressed slowly. Whether the ratio is enough for a particular reader is merely subjective.

Yeah, Rudeus got a completely different deck of cards. He got to not only leave behind his old life, but also leave behind his world as well, and a very fortuitous living situation on top of that. Kazuya on the other hand merely reincarnated back to the exact period of life that fucked him up in the first place.
It's understandable that they're different, I just find Kazuya's situation thematically a lot more interesting because his reincarnation is the exact opposite of an escape from his problems.
>>142391345
While it was there, I think that it played a much lighter role in his character than it could have been. Both Rudi and Kazuya were completely rock bottom when they reincarnated, hated by society, psychologically a complete mess, living in a hell of their own making. The condition of their past life makes it completely reasonable to conclude they're broken people, much moreso than a typical protagonist, who would have terrible difficulties even if given a second opportunity. With Rudi things simply went too smoothly, they got better too conveniently, and that is what makes it a wish-fulfillment story, not even the setting or the premise. His past life, frankly, played a very small part in the overall narrative. Him eventually acknowledging his past and "resolving" only becomes an extension of that when it's that easy no matter how much you throw in a "he worked so hard because of his past life" to justify it.
>>142391979

>>142391979
>While it was there, I think that it played a much lighter role in his character than it could have been.
I won't deny that, but I don't think it was meant to be. A lot of the story is contradictory, kinda like life. And for the most part, it was about focusing on growth and the future, so naturally the past had to be put on the back burner you know?
I personally don't think he was all that special due to his past life, compared to other Isekai MCs at least. But I do acknowledge that the series constantly reiterates that his past life trauma is what drives him for the most part, and no where is it actually that strong on his psyche. After all he constantly relaxes his guard, constantly gets full of himself, yada yada.
He doesn't actually change all that much from his past life other than trying to change. He makes an attempt to change, but the change if looked at objectively, isn't much compared to anyone else in his position if they had to go through his past life.
That to me, is refreshing because he's ultimately incompetent down to the core. Like the other anon said, Isekai novels aren't about people becoming better, it's just an MC cheating the system.
Rudi understands this at heart, because he always reminds himself he's average, he's a nobody, yada yada. But at the same time he doesn't wanna shut off any potential future in store for him by being negative, so he tries to be grateful, and earnest.
A lot of people on /a/ hate him because he's too modest for how OP he is, constantly making remarks about how they would do things differently but in the end, Rudi understands he's still a loser, he's just lucky. But the true change is that he now understands deeply that luck only favors the bold so to speak.
That said it has nothing to do with your complain that it's wish fulfillment, because it IS. It was practically spoon fed to the reader that it's meant to be this way, no different than say, Knights and Magic.

>MT suffers from the exact same issue as nearly every other wish fulfillment story in that there's almost no actual character conflict.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, it suffers certainly, but it was probably meant to be that way. You're looking for something that was never meant to be there, like trying to find romance on a Saturday morning cartoon.
Way I see it, MT is good enough that you guys are imposing what you want in a story onto it, thinking "this is how the story should be" instead of thinking "is this what the story was even made for?". That alone should serve as testament to how successful the series is when people are pushing their own desires and expectations onto it.
I mean come on, it's /a/ a board full of neets and weebs. Is it any wonder an Isekai story will be heavily scrutinized because it doesn't conform to every faggots personal golden ratio, especially when it was most of the board's first big Isekai story?
Like if you want character conflict, I'd probably look for it in something like Rakuen no Monshou instead. Just because Mushoku Tensei dabbled in it a bit doesn't mean it was designed to focus on it, just like Rudi.
I have plenty of complaints about the series myself, but most of them are like yours, it just wouldn't be the same story if it was changed that way.

Not really cliche at all with how it was used
The problem with "power of friendship" is that it has nothing to do with the friends at all. MC does all the work and beats all the antagonists, the "friends" are just a cheering squad that's only there for moral support.
MC's friends actually pull their weight, has strength Rudi usually lacks, coordinate well with Rudi, and at times are even more capable than Rudi. MT has actual teamwork rather than just the MC shouting "I have my friends so I can beat you"

Just finished this other day and felt like recommending it.
Reincarnation story where a high achiever type girl unloved by her parents dies because she missed the red light going off and gets reincarnated into a fantasy world as a poor village girl with all her knowledge. Throughout the story she tries to better the lives of the people around her by peppering their undeveloped and overly dependent on magic nobles culture with some basic farming, cooking and mechanical know how she had to go on. Things still don't go smoothly though asshe gets sold off by her parents, made a wageless servant for a noble family, becomes engaged a much older man, kidnapped by bandits, goes through stockholm syndrome and is forced to split off from her bandit family for the sake of their big plan. Not quite as dark as that sounds since she does find good things to help her through them. First book goes up to her 10th year and it seems like it's leading up to her playing a big role as anunwilling cult figurein a revolution that's bubbling up with common folk and non-magical nobles.
It's called 転生少女の履歴書, The Reincarnated Girl's Resume. Fairly easy prose since it's all written in the girl's pov and the girl herself is quite sympathetic with her abandonment and overpragmatism issues. Reads like a WN that had some bits cut out for an LN and doesn't feel like otome type series it appears to be with all the illustrations of studs the book has.

The problem is that MT isn't an SOL where conflict is basically a non-factor, it sells itself as a fantasy/adventure series with actual, direct character conflict. The story itself actually has plenty of conflicts, they're just completely trivially resolved and ultimately end up being virtually pointless.
Furthermore, even SOL fans don't try to pretend their stories are anything but low-tier writing that serves the sole purpose of providing a vehicle for escapism.
I mean, if you're trying to say "MT really isn't trying to be a good, well-written story" then by all means I'm in agreement.

It just happens to have certain aspects and parts to it that is really appealing, bordering well written give or take subjectivity.
Anyone with common sense that wasn't completely immersed in the story and detached enough to analyze the story could tell you within the first 100 chapters that Rudi displays a bit too much knowledge for a guy who dropped out of middle school and spent roughly 10+ years being a NEET/Otaku.

1. What is with the whole time travel? What is the point? Why was it only him? What are the mechanics? Was it all just something for him to take advantage of and if so, why is his rape baby taken back then?
2. Personality. He devolved into a villain that only thinks with his dick. Don't tell me that makes him alpha (it does not). It makes him into a piece of unredeemable shit character that only cares about sex. Nothing complex, just one-dimensional evil villain with nothing to care or respect about.
3. Killing off the people only created more shitty development out of nowhere and only added more to how irredeemable aspects to the mc to where there is no sympathy and depth.
4. What is the theme? What is the point? Why am I watching a guy think with his dick when I could watch hentai for that and still be worth a fap than this?

>1. What is with the whole time travel? What is the point? Why was it only him? What are the mechanics? Was it all just something for him to take advantage of and if so, why is his rape baby taken back then.
How are any of those significant to the plot? The protagonist died in the first chapter, nobody knows what happens to a person after that. He could be anything from a vengeful spirit to trapped hell.
Also, it wasn't just him.
>2. Personality. He devolved into a villain that only thinks with his dick. Don't tell me that makes him alpha (it does not). It makes him into a piece of unredeemable shit character that only cares about sex. Nothing complex, just one-dimensional evil villain with nothing to care or respect about.
For starters, the protagonist killing Ikumi says otherwise.
>3. Killing off the people only created more shitty development out of nowhere and only added more to how irredeemable aspects to the mc to where there is no sympathy and depth.
MC only killed two people, and one was entirely on accident.
>4. What is the theme? What is the point?
Karma, childhood innocence and/or lack thereof, and deconstruction of reincarnation stories.

I worded that wrong about just him, I knew it was the rape baby as well that could do it. Also it is significant as it was the thing that MADE THE WHOLE STORY POSSIBLE. If you don't explore it, it becomes dry to the point where it leaves a plot hole. Erased had that and it was bad to that degree.
> Ikumi killed
That only solidified him as a one dimensional villain. Two-dimensional at best and terrible character with little depth to even sympathize or feel for.
> Accident
Yeah, and you know what happened after that? He was actually happy deep down and doesn't care other than himself.
> Karma, childhood innocence and deconstruction of reincarnation
There wasn't enough karma as is. That is as much depth as Akame ga kill and it means absolutely little to none. The lack of childhood innocence had no reflection, therefore it had nothing. Just another reason to find it appalling against the protagonist. And the deconstruction
>a method of critical analysis of philosophical and literary language that emphasizes the internal workings of language and conceptual systems, the relational quality of meaning, and the assumptions implicit in forms of expression.
Yeah right.
> Sounds like I am the only one thinking about his dick.

>Also it is significant as it was the thing that MADE THE WHOLE STORY POSSIBLE. If you don't explore it, it becomes dry to the point where it leaves a plot hole. Erased had that and it was bad to that degree.
The time travel in Erased was a central recurring mechanic that the entire plot revolved around, in Umareru it only established the setting that the story takes place in. Nearly the entire story takes place within the 3rd timeline, the story ends in the 3rd timeline, and aside from the 1st chapter any acknowledgement of other timelines is done indirectly through flashback. It's a minor plot device, not a major one, so the comparison is incorrect.
>That only solidified him as a one dimensional villain. Two-dimensional at best and terrible character with little depth to even sympathize or feel for.
How so? Kazuya never did anything without reason.
>Yeah, and you know what happened after that? He was actually happy deep down and doesn't care other than himself.
Deep down? He was outwardly happy about it. What's your point? Him being a bad person doesn't make him a bad character. He had very good reasons to be happy that kid died.
>There wasn't enough karma as is.
The protagonist dying and coming face to face with his inner demons, terrorizing the children that fucked him up in the first place, the spawn of his actions hunting him down for all eternity, the fact that he never actually remembers raping Anna and will never get the chance to be with her willingly or otherwise, etc. The protagonist directly created his own personal hell.
>The lack of childhood innocence had no reflection, therefore it had nothing.
Kyou and Anna's obliviousness, the bully's ruthlessness, Ikumi's sexuality, Kazuya's trauma, etc. It had plenty, you just weren't paying any attention.

>>142398193
> Minor plot device
No it is not. It is the whole thing that created the story. The whole entire mess and you are telling us to leave such a huge influence out? No, that is a huge plot hole in itself. I never said anything about the third timeline being revolved and right now, it doesn't excuse the fact that THIS IS A TIME TRAVEL STORY. And both this and Erased had no explanations around the time loops and how it was established leaving a plot hole.
> Never did anything without a reason.
And even the reasons are extremely petty to where he is nothing more than trash. You cannot sympathize with this character. Nothing worth of value to this villain of the series. Kazuya is a terrible protagonist who cared about no one but himself and wanted to rape for dominance which is pretty much one dimensional. That is just petty abuse of his position and greed with no purpose other than making himself think he is better. That is just selfish with no sense of depth other than being just as bad as any other one dimensional villain.
> The bully.
You just took my false bait to explain it. Wow. You only made his character be portrayed as a bigger piece of shit. Good reasons, hah! He definitely had his revenge and went on a rampage.
> Karma
He doesn't reflect on such a thing. He only thinks about winning in the end. That is not a hell if he manages to succeed in causing terror anyways. Personal hell my ass. He still gets the pussy in different ways. Still a villain that you won't care for in the end.
> Bunch of kids you listed as innocent.
That wasn't a point to the whole story. It revolved around a fucking villain raping others and there was nothing of value to the "innocence" of the story. It just showed a downward spiral of a piece of shit that was Kazuya. What I meant by reflection is something around the lines, "I can't go back, I know what I have done makes me guilty."If this was in the story, it'd be a whole lot better but the "innocence" in this story is nothing.
>>142398241

>>142404066
Your majority is basically based on all the outlier series that aren't as popular. If we were to go by different merits, then all of YP put together wouldn't even match js06.exe.
Everyone accepts translations can be slow, it's a crap shoot. But why would you only talk about averages? If a series garners popularity, it will get the support it needs to be translated faster and better.
And here's the better thing, is YP licensing the slow to translate series mostly? Or are they just book marking Sky's blog and taking whatever his team works on next? Oh right, the latter.
And release rates don't matter when you start out behind 10+ volumes for most series, this is all before going into how each novel has a different release rate for YP. There's no fixed schedule. Spicy Wolf took ages to finish, long after the fan translations were done.
Now I'm not saying YP is total shit, cause it's also a crap shoot and you can get lucky. But you're just being autistic if you think semantics is worth defending the company over.
>As if to show off his trained body, Lyle spread both his arms towards the ceiling. Beside him, Monica:

>>142404325
>Or are they just book marking Sky's blog and taking whatever his team works on next?
I'm pretty sure they're taking whatever had an anime that garnered sufficient popularity in the West, because it's free marketing.
>>142404456
It's still the same thing in the end, they will never work on series that lacks translations, only things that have existing translations, and reasonably paced ones at that.
Maybe like 10% of their licenses are out of the norm. But that's it. Speed means nothing so long as you're always behind without DMCA/C&D.
As others have said, YP uses the strategy of aiming for the first volume. It doesn't really matter if whatever license they grab doesn't sell, it's dirt cheap and they only need vol 1 to make it big to recover the losses of many. But even then, they won't ever dare take a risk with stuff that has no translations.
Not exclusive to YP either, look at Shieldbro that's licensed. Where's this anime to speak of? Nowhere. The only big series not licensed is stuff like Mushoku Tensei where the content is basically soccer moms with pitchforks and torches material and Youjo/Horizon, which is phone book sized with high difficulty in translation.
Anime definitely has a hand in it, but you'd be delusional to assume the fan translations don't hold their attention. Even a dinosaur like Neil Gaimon understands this, how can anyone in 2016 still be arguing about it when the man literally made a scientific experiment on it, one that still runs today because of it's success?

>>142388400
>Pass perfection

>>142404717
I think you're reading too much into it. Those series which YP has that don't have anime already didn't exactly have fast moving translations at the time (Danmachi, Re Zero, Psycome) so it's doubtful that that is what got their interest.
And those series which did have fast moving popular translations already didn't get picked up by Yen Press until after there was an anime (SAO, Mahouka, Overlord, Konosuba, Asterisk) or only had fast fan translations in the first place because of the anime (Oregairu, Haruhi, Black Bullet)
And there are projects where fan translation barely existed but the anime was popular so they picked it up (Strike the Blood, Mekakushitty Actors)
One Peace Books licensing Shield is the outlier here. An anime is a stronger predictor of licensing than a fan translation.
>>142404717

OP here. They were one-dimensional to begin with (childhood friend who likes MC because he saved/was kind to them, literally copy-paste tsundere, literally copy-paste chuunin). The irony with Sylphiette was that she became the one-dimensional female character (like in Rudeus' eroge games, which he mentioned in his inner thoughts) whose world gravitates around the MC because they rely on the MC so much, which is exactly what Paul and Rawls were trying to avoid.
Also, Rudeus has harem MC powers: every girl wants the D, even Aisha which the author realized would be going too far. I dropped it at chapter 140 (the threesome chapter) because the writing became shit and Rudeus makes everything more unbearable.
