To be fair, quality of BC aside, its manga sales seem to be slowly increasing. I think it's at 100k per volume compared to previous volumes, and its rankings are hovering within the 1-5. To be fair, BnHA had one really insanely dedicated shitposter very early on that kept posting bait thread after bait thread.
I generally enjoy the more "generic" series in WSJ.
I mean, I hardly hear sports manga called generic when 90% of them have this plot structure:
-Protagonist is
1. Person with a natural talent that never realized they loved <sport> until they tried it
or
2. Person who is insanely dedicated to <sport> and really good but can't ever excel because <physical shortcoming/lack of teammates>.
Eventually forms lovable band of misfits team complete with <underground/formerly disgraced coach/trainer> and <team secretary who doesn't know a fucking thing about the sport>
Competes against
-The #1 team in the region who are aloof assholes lead by seemingly unstoppable ace/captain
-The almost #1 team who are actually noble and total bros and have the cool and respectable rival character
-The team that's basically good friends with the MC and his crew, but is overall seemingly more competent and possibly hyper-competent in one area
-Dark horse team with the unknown juggernaut member picked up from mysterious place
-Jobber teams who are somehow only good at exactly ONE aspect of <sport>
