I bet Ywach is the one who sliced up the soul king, and they sealed him up to keep him alive.
Then Yama went on revenge mode and burnt quincy land to the ground, and poisoned the world so that it would generate hollows the natural enemy of quincy
Now, with so many more hollows, they spill out into the living realm and with so many dead quincy, everything was out of balance. So Yama founded the gotei to keep everything flowing well.
In the end, Ichigo's gonna use the soul king's power to remake hueco mundo into a habitable place so it doesn't keep making hollows.

The average bleach chapter always sold about 700-800k, then it dropped to 500k about a few years ago, and it's been selling 400-500k until the end of the last arc kicked it, and it's been about 300-400k since.

Here I'll admit is probably just a matter of opinion. If the character interactions established in the Fullbring arc had played more of a role I would be inclined to agree, but Yukio and Riruka had their stories concluded, and then came back in to solve a problem. For me personally, that felt a more forced than if Urahara had just given Yoruichi or even Grimmjow some device to perform what Yukio and Riruka did. Urahara is established as being "that scientist." But again, this one I will admit is opinion.

It's more about Ichigo's relationship with other Humans and the Shinigami. Ginjou and the Fullbringers are essentially a proxy by which these two worlds once again become intertwined. I do wish Ginjou himself had been explored more but his motivation was well defined.
