One really great part of late Aikatsu is when they go to Dream Academy for the DreaCarnival. I honestly can't remember how close they were before, but there were some really nice scenes with Sumire and Sora bonding over their love for hair styling, and Hinaki and Maria getting together over their hosting skills. It very easily could've been reversed, too. Both Sumire and Maria share an appreciation for tea and using it to heal the hearts of their friends, and Sora/Hinaki are both deep into the fashion world, but it was deliberately split up in the other way. It showed another side to all four of their personalities, and was a very nice way to bring back our lost friends.

I'm listening to the first Stars CD now. The full version of Start Line really does feel like a last episode song, one they'll use way at the end. The extended violin in the second half is great and fits perfectly. Episode Solo full is pretty much what I expected too, which is good. Monaca knows how to do the wub. The lyrics are kind of goofy though, if you listen you'll be able to hear the English they use in it. Aikatsu Step is fine, not special one way or the other. I like all three (or rather Start line and Step) more than I did at first, which is always a good thing.

Wow, this is some serious ded for such a fabulously crafted episode. First off, I guess it was true that Koharu and Mahiru are both in Beauty Class, which means nobody will contest Yuzu for the Dance spot. But due to the nature of the series, this also means that any new idol introduced will immediately be screwed due to the specific competitive nature of the classes. And having two competing pairs is much more intense than just Yume vs Laura.
Speaking of Mahiru, her full name is Kasumi Mahiru. Now doesn't that sound similar to... Kasumi Yozora? Not a word about it was mentioned, but this angle is extremely promising considering the only other family we've seen before is Seira and Noelle, and we got less than one episode with both of them as idols together. I wonder if Yozora's into incest.
There was well deserved development for Koharu, both retrospective and changing. We see a bit of her past with Yume, and she gets her motivational kick to really get into gear as an idol.You can tell that Kakihara Yuuko on series composition is keeping a firm thumb on the writing, and doing an amazing job of it. Following Yume last episode subtly using her newfound knowledge of how to make coords for songs, Laura come right out with her own lesson that being different and unique is a good thing. The episodes actually all feel connected, and not simply just isolated instances. This is promising.
And the results were good too for the fashion show. Mahiru, as the best, deserved her win. But Koharu also deserved recognition for her save at the end. Remember, she's the only other new girl who learned to walk with the 2 L bottle on her head. Having Yozora do the concert too also made sense. It follows from how the first-years aren't idols yet, and it's reasonable since each class has a different focus.
And Yume and Laura just keep getting closer. Everything about Stars is great. It's a miracle Aikatsu is still going strong.

Miharu had less screen-time than Ako so far and quite frankly all that we got from her is she's got mad skillz and she gets along well enough with Koharu. No Atsui Rivalry in the Beauty class.

I don't think it's very entertaining. The in-episode subplots aren't gripping me and overall plot isn't interesting to me so far either. I'm a big fan of the fight choreography in Precure and the Maho fights have been incredibly lackluster. I'm not even talking about animation, but the fights last 10 seconds and they just kick the monster once then beamspam it. It's like the Precure aspects actually hurt the show, because Mirai and Riko are cute characters and could potentially carry a series on their own. But the transformations, fights, villains, monsters, finishers -- they all feel lazy and tacked on. It's jarring and I'm not having fun.
