As I discovered when a friend of mine got stabbed in London it's quite difficult to kill someone by stabbing unless you get the blade in the right places and with enough force.
If you didn't do that, and you did it somewhere easy enough to get decent medical attention really quickly, like a train station in this case then you've got a fair shout of living as there's no real organ failure, just bleeding.
