I would've liked to see more of the families, especially Shinsuke's and Shakugans no doubt bountiful offspring. One can hope there's an epilog for the final volume release at somepoint (unless this was that).
Recently rereading the LotR in full has given me a bit of an interest in ending like this which follow all the protagonist's through the rest of their lives and up until their "deaths."

It doesn't feel like a climax of the series, it feel like an epilogue. Mizukami should expand on Shinsuke and Tsukiko's dead and put this chapter as bonus for the volume release.

It's not so much sequel bait, and part of the "theme" of Senya's character development: there's always more to see beyond this one journey or this one generation. You couldn't possibly show it all on page, so Mizukami alludes to it and shows what a small bit of Senya's new daily or so life is like.
I think it's a fitting ending for a story with a guy who is probably immortal.
