Just finished watching this and there is literally nothing good about this show at all, it's just flat out bad.
You can't even turn your brain off and just enjoy like kabaneri or boku no hero(If you guys enjoy these shows for other reason that's fine, i'm not trying to insult them, i think their great/only enjoyable things this season.) ,
mayoiga is literally painful to watch be it the hideous animation(I swear there isn't a single on model character during motion) or it's generic characters and thei by the numbers uninspired character interactions.

All these interactions literally write themselves and i've seen it all 100x before with characters that are actually remotely interesting.

The default "bullshit" ending that I am expecting: There is an hallucinogenic chemical that seeps from the ground. It causes paranoia and mild disorientation (including not being able to read a map properly or walk in a straight line). There is a large quantity of this chemical in the tunnel. People who overcome their fear, like Masaki, are subsequently immune because of some bullshit science explanation. Some unknown person is living hidden in the village and creating fake bear marks to scare locals away so they don't suffer from the chemical. Masaki went to the village before and wants to come back to help this person escape, probably made a promise about it a long time ago. She sent the email and feels guilty about it. Every other plot hints will be ignored.

personally I'm not here for the train-wreck, at first I watched the show because I thought one was coming, but now I'm just genuinely having fun with it. it makes me laugh, rewatching it made me notice far more little details in the writing and direction that have convinced me everything this show does "wrong" is all on purpose, and thanks to threads I'm now invested in the mystery.
the threads do tend to fall during the week but there's always something like the shorts edit thread or the Pokemon sprite art to redeem it, and it's more of an opportunity to spend time with other people who also find the show fun.
