This happens to me with books as well. They were great when I read them back in middle school/high school, but going back to them makes me realize how awful and juvenile the writing was. It makes me sad.

Not really, my taste in entry level shows has stayed consistent and I still like my original favourites. I still dislike the same entry level shows too.
Actually, I loved Sailor Moon when I was a kid and now I can't get past the monster of the week episodes to rewatch it all. But I wouldn't say it's bad.

Have you ever read the books? It's in 2 parts, and they are honestly really fucking awesome. Never watched the show so if it was super faithful maybe you'd hate the books, but I love them and after 10 years a new installment is coming out later this month.
