You might want to watch a few more eps to see if it's for you since the first episode is a complete non-sequitur that's just a long criticism of modern anime (i.e. "idol" and otome shows), and the second episode is just a sketch reel.
Try ep 7 (specifically the first half). That was the one that sold the show for me. If not, then it's just not for you, comedy is very subjective like that.

For better or worse, Karamatsu and Ichimatsu are extremely pigeonholed (especially in the manga as someone pointed out). It's Karamatsu's job to basically do outrageous and flamboyant stuff and either be ignored or ITAIITAI'd out of the room. It's Ichimatsu's job to either mutter stuff darkly or be moe.
I think Jyushimatsu is well characterized too, and that too many people write him off. There's ample evidence to suggest he's not stupid and he can be serious, and that he's a pretty heartfelt person. At the same time, the point of his character according to staff is to "be unpredictable and impossible to pin down", but when all he's doing is yelling stuff about YAKYUU and HUSTLE MUSCLE he's being pretty formulaic.

Big reason why I want an S2, I feel like the series has figured out what works and what doesn't and has a foothold. If all or most of S2 could be like the good parts of S1, that'd be tops.
In particular I want to say that while I didn't mind the half episode format that was the standard for the show, my favorite was actually Kerosene + Dayon Tribe, since it was all part of one half-hour ep. I agree. I liked it when the skits were linked narratively more. They kinda did it in episode 5, but it was more successful in the Kerosene + Dayon Tribe episode.

I think Episode 5 is one of my favourite episodes because of the ending. The setup was perfect, and it completely changes the tone of the previously-heartwarming ESP Kitty episode into something funnier in a really twisted way.

I don't feel like that can be predicted.
The series has almost limitless potential since it has no rules (think Loony Tunes and such). Comedy isn't something you can quickly/easily run dry, but it's also hard to write.
I guess it depends on how much they follow the successful formulas of S1. And how much they feel like stooping to/pandering to the fans. It's fine in merch and even very occasionally in the canon itself, but I feel like if they try to play to the fans interests too much, it'll be bad.

I'm fucking slow in the head. I didn't notice Kara was gone at all not even after the ending. I rewatched the show four times or so and still his lack of presence just didn't register because I knew he said _something_ at the end. It wasn't until the episode 12 special where the VAs outright say it that the penny dropped.
Anyhow, I was more distracted by howitaiIchi was in that episode.Feeling guilty for cringing at my favorite's darkest hour but damn.
