Here's a comparison where I thought the difference can be clearly seen. While the "normal" version is servicable English, there are some unclear parts or just plain confusing. Like when Kazuma said "please yourself" I didn't know if he was telling her to go fuck herself, or do what she wanted.
The second version, which was translated by an anon who volunteered, is clearly edited by a native English speaker. It actually seems around the level you would get from a professional translation in my opinion. The general flow of the English fits better.
And yeah, the "Unnecessary edit" does sound a tad mean-spirited doesn't it.

It's probably going to take a while, because now that I have access to the raws I'm finding all sorts of little translation mistakes. Nothing massive, just stuff that affects the tones of the sentences.
As an example, one translated line goes "Uh— Kazuma, what about this?". If I hadn't seen the raw I would've changed it to "So uh... Kazuma, is there something wrong with this?". But I did, and the line is "で、これがどうかしたの？". There isn't any uncertainty in that, so now I have it as "So? What’s wrong with this?”.
So now instead of just doing reading through the chapter and replacing what's there with whatever I translated it to in my head to make it flow smoother, I'm actually consulting the raws to make sure it's right. That severely cuts my output down from like one chapter a day if I really got into it to half a chapter at most.
