I miss the east blue arcs where they fit two chapters in an episode. and now we get to see 6 second stare scenes, just to hear the characters sob or dramatically look at each other. So much filler in the episodes we only get 5 minutes of subpar (good by toei standards) content.

Also I actually somewhat liked Law, it's no surprise he got second place when he became an important character in the Dressrosa Arc, actually before the Dressrosa Arc. Law has been important since Punk Hazard Arc, so yeah, not surprise at all how his popularity spiked. It's nice to see the public has good taste in characters though, Law, Zoro, Sabo, Ace, Nami all got into the top ten. I wish Shanks was higher up but he still got 14th place which is pretty good considering he's had almost no screen time since the Marineford Arc.
Also is Brook confirmed worst Strawhat? He got the lowest position out of all the Strawhat's.

I was really considering switching out Foxy with Sai but opted for goofy slo-mo combos.
Admittedly, Sai is a much better choice with his eight impact fist and ability to swim but Nami, Wanze and Jinbei have fruit users somewhat covered there. Wanze may not look it but he has to be strong enough to save a swimmer (by OP standards). Also Blueno and Law's fruits make saving someone in a bind pretty easy.

What surprises me is that so many people seem to think that it should be no problem for Shanks to defend against the bite of the sea monster. They seem to completely ignore that a creature with this size has a extremely high bite strength that amounts to a fuckload of tons ( a shark has about 1,8 tons of bite strength, just to compare Hody to this freaking huge jaw). And bite strength has nothing to do with muscular strength, so even if Luffy could defeat the sea monster with one punch it does not change a thing about the strength of its jaws.

I agree. Your setup is respectable but I like my character choice more as I mentioned those are some of my favorites.
I don't really mind if you like them, but I personally hate Foxy, Apoo and Wanze. There are better choices.

Blueno is a chill dude but he seemed to be a little underpowered.
Trafalgar is definitely a very good choice to have as an ally.

That is precisely why it is so good. It emphazises that this is an important moment, the focus is entirely on Teach and the three strawhats. The surrounding city is blocked out completely, which makes the panel somewhat timeless. Luffy staring at Teach staring at Luffy is all that matters at that moment, so why would we be shown any distractnig details of their surroundings.
I see it like this: if you want to emphazise a character looking at something you show his eyes/face. If you want two characters looking into each other's faces, you will probably show one panel for each face. Oda probably wanted the two of them staring at each other while still having Teach' line over them all in one panel. So he choose to just depict what the two are looking at.
Also, I think Zoro's standing-up pose is kinda batass in a nonchalant way.

I really liked how the anime handled this scene. It's exactly as you describe, but what always gives me goosebumps is the snap back to reality when all of the citizens start calling Blackbeard crazy and he isn't phased and whatever OST plays at that time is awesome as well.
