I went back to watch the previous episodes just to try and understand what motive Koharun might have to stick to Valkana, and I noticed her eyes were always on him, whether he went by himself and skipped eating or flipped his shit by the river after Yottsun drowned, she was always watching him, so she may have liked him from the start.

In rural prairie country, everything is flat, so you basically have a completely unobstructed view extending all the way to the horizon. That horizon, as luck would have it, is blue during most daylight hours. Saying something came out of the blue is just a way of saying it just came over the horizon without warning. It's an american colloquialism.
