I didn't really like the first chapter to be honest. I feel the author (whose name I do not know) was trying to set up too much right at the beginning. He needs to pace himself a bit more. Give us some atmosphere. Obviously we're not dealing with the same shit we were dealing with when Naruto was a kid. I get the feeling that the author just wanted to get on with it rather than take the time to add what changes to the world he thinks there are now.

I can't remember when I picked up reading Naruto, but I don't imagine it's far off from ten years. Same for Bleach and One Piece. And Fairy Tail now, actually. It seems to me that there's a psychological stage being set. Boruto has obvious similarities to Naruto, but his aggression is directed differently than Naruto's was. Whereas Naruto directed his rebellion against the system and society itself, Boruto is rebelling strictly against his dad. Yeah, it's not exactly interesting, but the supporting characters might be able to carry the manga. I'm real interested to see how Sarada develops. If the manga can keep my attention for more than five chapters.

In the opening scene they have barely damaged the hokage sculptures, both Naruto and Sasuke could destroy the whole village in the matter of seconds. I agree, but the first chapter did introduce a wild card. We don't have enough information to accurately judge how powerful these "ninja apps" are going to be. Could they make a ninja device that could make joe schmoe as powerful as Sasuke and Naruto? Maybe, maybe not. The village being destroyed is nothing more than cliche and is pretty much meaningless. Naruto and Sasuke could be off having a gay picnic and it'd be just as legitimate a distraction as them being dead. Nevermind Orochimaru still being around and still being a real and dangerous threat to anyone and everyone.

Boruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad. Its a good thing that Kaguya and the other aliens are mostly about pure power, rather than refining their abilities which is something particular to Ninjutsu, rather than the original fighting style.
