You can argue that she isn't confident at all because she tries to hide her chuuni past and her present chuuni tendency, but I think especially later on it feels more or less like an in-joke with only a small portion of actual embarrassment. Like when you did or even still do something you know is almost objectively embarrassing and you poke fun at yourself for doing it. It's a more endearing 'I was just pretending to be retarded'.
