I know people often think Reina is dominating Kumiko and that's more or less what you see when watching the show, but I think there is actually more depth to their relationship than just that.
For example during their hike it's Reina who tries to impress Kumiko with her white dress and all that extraordinary stuff. Reina actually prepared for this day, like when she showed of her flashlight app, meaning she put thought in the things she needs to do to make this trip worthwhile. Kumiko came wearing just a casual shirt. The series made us well aware that Kumiko thinks quite often about Reina, but during this event it feels like Kumiko is actually even more important to Reina than Reina is to Kumiko.
It's also apparent that Kumiko is much more social than Reina. This doesn't necessarily mean that Reina is socially incompetent, but she cares less about others than Kumiko does. Though later on it gets apparent that while she does care less, it's not like she doesn't care at all. Once some band members turn against during the trumpet solo drama we can see that it actually gets to her. She is very ambitious and won't let others stand in her way, but this doesn't mean that people hating her isn't gonna hurt her. During this time we can see how much she actually relies on Kumiko to give her strength again.
Reina inspires Kumiko to want to improve and focus and Kumiko works as a pillar for Reina since she's one of the few who understands her and her goals and who will support her in reaching those. I'm not gonna go into that whole romantic crap that one couldn't do without the other since they definitely could, but they definitely push each other quite well as long as they're together.

Yeah. Ironically I recently (as in, just last night) rewatched episode 8, which lead me to watch episodes 10 and 11, and you really get a sense of Reina's contradictions. The way she explains that she doesn't want to be like everyone else, but is hopes that Kumiko would understand her. Also, the ways after being outed as knowing Taki she asks Kumiko if she thinks she's in the wrong and how she tacitly admits to Kumiko that she's obviously afraid of being seen as the bad guy if she won the second audition. These are both starkly different from the pillar of self-confidence she seems like most of the time.
Not to say that they're bad, or hurt her character anyway. They're just delicious incongruences that flesh out her character and make you realize she's more than what she appears to be.

It's also because of Kumiko's views and her cynicism, which are very similar to Reina's.
Compare Kumiko to Midori. They are both quite knowledgable about the whole bands stuff, but they approach it with a very different mindset. Midori is nothing but positive most of the time. She's not stupid so she realizes the band isn't that good initially and she gets slightly disappointed, but she instantly compensates with her optimism and decides to be their savior since she loves music.
Kumiko isn't even disappointed in the first place. The band is 'as good as she expected', which is horrible. They suck and she initially doesn't even intend to join them.
Midori is the type to pay little attention to other people being bad. She'd never blame them or call them out on it. She takes the band very seriously, but she doesn't want to sacrifice other people's happiness for it. This allows her to keep her happy attitude as she rarely steps on anyone's toes, but it also means she has little experience and trouble dealing with drama. For example she was actually for Reina giving up the solo simply because she didn't want people to be upset. Another downside is when she considers herself to be the problem, like when she blames herself because Hazuki got rejected. She doesn't want people to be unhappy and it's even more problematic for her when she thinks she's the cause.
Reina gets angry when people push their problems onto her, like when she throws a fit because of Ribbon's accusations

Reina doesn't resort to sugarcoating. Ribbon was acting shitty and thus Reina thinks of her as a little shit. This is very similar to Kumiko. It's not that the band is just 'not good', they suck. Reina is heavily attracted to this side of Kumiko. Both try to hide their harsh view most of the time though, Reina by avoiding social interaction and Kumiko by putting up a facade, which Reina calls her out on during the festival.

For consistant favorite I would have to say Percy Grainger, but I'm a big fan of the romance era in general. Marches are fun yeah.

It may be part of the low brass but I usually think of it more as a tenor instrument in relation to the rest of the ensamble, it's tambre is generally darker and more mellow than that of a trombone. Tubas usually get the very bass parts, the root note of the chord, while euphoniums get the lower middle. Euphoniums do get melody, not as often as instruments like trumpets or clarinets in my experience but it still isn't uncommon. Yeah we do get solos but it isn't solos like you would imagine, in my experience I usually get solos backing up a higher pitched instrument like a trumpet

It depends on the piece. Some arrangements feature euphs quite heavily, other times they play a lot of harmony with the trombones.
For example, Holst's second suite in F, it has a whole euphonium solo section. It's about 45 second in. It really is a beautiful instrument

I'm more concerned about the role of horns. All the other instruments I can kinda make out when I hear the ensemble (at least in the show) but I can never single out the horns based on their sound. Same here. Kumiko is probably one of the very few (and so far the only one we've seen) Reina actually wants to spend time with. It feels like every interaction with others is mostly done out of a sense of obligation or to maintain an environment that allows band play to work well, like eating with the other trumpets or praising others (like she did with Ribbon before the entire shitstorm started). She might even like other people, like when she said that Natsuki was cool, but that's probably as far as it'll go. I'd assume that Hazuki and Midori are way too hyped and happy-go-lucky for Reina to be anything but polite and distant.
