Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Heiei were cool. To this day I get crazy hype whenever a Banchou is on screen.

It's also a bit disappointing that some of the minor characters like Botan and Keiko weren't featured more.

They were a good cast but the mangaka didn't do a good job at balancing their appearances and relevance. Kuwabara mostly fucks off at the end and the lion's share of development went to Kurama who at that point in the manga probably needed it the least.
But I will contend your claim by posting my own. These guys were great and played off each other extremely well. Watching them do their thing was my Best Place.

Part 4 is literally the only good cast, though. Unless you count 7, but seven is a shounen.
HnK is just trash, and I disregard the opinion of anyone who thinks otherwise.
The only manga I got the complete run of. So good so long as you picture the Jinchu arc as just an extended epilogue.

They basically solidified a basic rule of shonen manga: If it lasts longer than 26 volumes, it'll turn to shit. Most of the best written manga stop around there and after that point, most manga get pants on head retarded.
There are some exceptions, but look at any long-running manga and see how the plot looks before and after Volume 26.
