In the long run, it shouldn't be a problem, though. I plan on disassembling, priming and recoloring it. The base can get a little putty and work done to even it out. It's boring as is anyway.

Not him but I recently started sculpting as I saw someone else posting his attempts on here, get some super sculpey, buy some cheap plastic sculpt tools, and a scalpel. Get an idea and play with it. You can build an armature out of some wire screwed into some wood. Im not sure what kind of clay these guys use but super sculpey doesnt dry until you bake it so you can play with it lots.
