Why is he the only one that can remember the stuff that happened in other timelines? Sure, everyone else remembers it at some point as some sort of dejá-vu, like Titor said they would, but he's the only one that remembers everything from the start...
Why's he the only one that can read?
>>

He has Reading Steiner aka The MC power.
It's a shitty plot point but oh well.

In the visual novel Titor stated how "people normally don't maintain their memories, but some rare exceptions do". There's no real reason, and that rare exception happened to be Okabe
>>
He had a fever in his early childhood that caused some sort of defect in his brain, which resulted in his perception of world lines being perfect.

The real question is why does deleting some data from CERN change the worldine noticably? Shouldn't you have to somehow delete the data in the past before CERN could pick it up?

Shit writing. In fact, no writing involving alternative histories is non-shit.

That's the main point of the butterfly effect

I know that, but the worldline changed before because CERN picked up on the D-mail sent to the past. Why does deleting the mail in the present change the past?

So the first episode they got a Metal Opa for Muyuri but in Episode 24 Okabe gets it first before the original one gets it. Wouldn't this change the timeline? It changes the continuity of the timeline doesn't it?
>>
>>140936752
That makes no sense. If there's only one world then who are they sending the mails? Clearly there are parallel worlds, it's literally drawn as parallel lines when Kurisu explains it. Why don't you play the VN before lecturing people on shit you have no clue about?

I read the Novel, maybe you need to reread it?
They are sending mails into the past to diverge from their current world line into a new divergence.
When they do this, the present will be erased and reconstructed to suit the new world line.
There is only one world, one active world line.
All others are merely possibilities, they don't exist.

They're sending mails into their own past via a kerr black hole's closed timelike curve, mate. It's not parallel worlds, the "parallel worlds" thing is admitted by John Titor to be a ruse. World lines exist as parallel possibilities, but only one world line exists at any given time.

Why are people trying so hard to find perfectly logical explanations in a series of stories that are based on the very premise that every single stupid rumor, from conspiracy theories to urban legends are true?

Everyone should have given up at the time an already pregnant Rukako's mother gave birth to a baby girl instead of a boy because she ate vegetables instead of meat, or "lifters = antigravity" or "a microwave is basically a particle accelerator" or "You can use black holes to compress data".

That's the kind of shit that makes me want to bang my head on a wall.

I guess that some people really can't accept and tolerate that an anime that they genuinely love might have flaws. But the lengths people go to patch them up with completely made up stories bring them to the point where they end up disrespecting and horribly mutilating what they fan over.

In the blind quest for "making everything have perfect sense" they end up trivializing stories, dismissing entire plot elements as irrelevant or fake, dumbing down characters that are supposed to be smart, or making things even more illogical than before.

>>140936790

The objective wasn't to keep what original Okabe went through 100% consistent with his future self's memories, it was just to ensure that the chain of events that led him to send the original D-Mail that sent him to the Alpha attractor field and (eventually) return to the Beta field and want to save Kurisu still happened. What he gets from the capsule machine doesn't affect the end result of that chain of events, so it's fine.
>>
>>140936946

Pretty much. If world lines are different train tracks, it's not that each track has a train on it and reading steiner lets you jump between them, it's that there's only one train, but time travel causes the train to switch to a different track and reading steiner is required to know that you weren't on that track the whole time.

At least as far as we know from what's told to us in the anime/VN- it's very possible that there *is* a train on every track, but that would require the ability to observe multiple trains at a time, which even RS can't do.

Everyone has their own form of Reading Steiner as he says. It all depends on who is the one shifting worldlines. After all, there is only ever one active worldline.

>>

Well the PhoneWave is pure plot device, although the idea of data transmission to affect the past rather than physical time travel is a novel idea.

The MEEG machine itself would technically not work as all it would be detecting are surface, cortical activations. It'd also be extremely broad spatially and temporally. In order to record and copy memory impulses, you'd have to map the contextual maps in the Hippocampus and the associated areas it links to. Even then, it's not entirely clear if memories can be transferred solely as impulses that are not endemic to a specific network of brain structures. Though, there have been experiments in rats where a microchip was substituted in for a set of neurons that were identified in a specific maze navigation memory and said microchip functioned perfectly as the substitute.

It won't be the same.

Back when S;G aired, we only knew about the awful C;H adaptation and word of mouth from people who had played either S;G or C;H in moon. And there had been pretty much no good VN adaptations at that point (even today they're scarce). Plus, Whitefox only had Katanagatari (which is great but got done on a monthly basis) and Tears to Tiara under their belt, so S;G could have gone either way and few people seriously expected anything out of it.

It was a big surprise when S;G turned out to be great, and slowly got more popular as it went along and word of mouth got more people interested.

Nowadays, S;G is way too popular and most people have seen it, so it's a safe bet that Zero will get shitposted to hell. Especially when you consider it now has a lot to live up to.
>>
>>140978897

I doubt it. Even if you did go to the U of Iowa, I got that information from a book I'd read. Don't believe any of my psych courses over the years have talked about the phantom limb phenomenon much.

Also because the adaptation has high chances of being a mess. Zero is a lot harder to adapt than the original, considering it's not a linear story.

It's just the butterfly effect, not to say that it's completely illogical to believe that pre-natal behavior of the mother can't influence the development of male vs female traits.

There was some SRY rat study that was done showing the influence of eating and diet preference on the results of giving birth to male versus female offspring, but I don't recall it offhand.

She was brainwashed by one of the Commitee's organizations (presumably during her time in the orphanage), so she tries to sabotage Suzuha's mission a whole bunch of times. She's super cute and likeable once they get over the brainwashing though. Her scenes with Mayuri are adorable too.
