People overrate it's wtf factor. This is because many don't get much from what happens on the first watch and either need to sit back and think it through, rewatch it or even read some wiki explanation for it. It's not very hard to get the plot from it's different perspectives and the ideas it wanted to present if you have a functioning brain.
Whether it was masterfully done considering the budget and the medium it was made in or pretentious edgy bullshit is up to you to decide.
