It was short, but great from the start to the very end. It's like Portal and Portal 2 games. First one is shorter, but the fun is more condensed. It has no boring parts, while second one had. That's why I don't really like part 4 that much.

Jonathan is generic to the point of eventual disinterest. Part 1's short length worked in its favor because had it gone on any longer Jonathan's short comings as an MC would have become quite apparent. Even Araki thinks he made Jonathan too perfect.

Part 3 is my second least favorite part. The first half is essentially Araki's dry run with stands, and he was obviously having a shaky time. Things get better around the time of N'doul though. However, things get much much better in part 4 onwards. Araki seemed to start to really understand what he had his hands on and he didn't squander it. Pretty much everyone loves stands post part 3. The characters (both brojos and villains) get better in part 4 onwards as well, imo.

I don't have those issues with Part 1 because every character was waay too perfect. Zeppelli for example was the flawless old master and Erina was the perfect girl and love interest. Dio was kinda flawed and Speedwagon too, but only as it fitted into their roles of villain and bumbling sidekick (and Speedwagon was really badass for a sidekick).
The characters being like that gives the setting the feel of an old legend or myth, kind of like Lord of the Rings.

I respect your opinion, but let me say that if you liked the fighting style of parts 1 and 2, you will absolutely love the stand fights. They're kinda boring at the beggining of Part 3, specially compared to ripple fighters and vampires with their body manipulation, but they get better eventually. For me, the first good stand fights from Part 3 were Hanged Man, Death 13, Justice, High Priestess and Lovers, but I think most people here would agree that things get better with the Egyptian God stands.
You should at least take a peek at the first chapters of Part 4 to see what Araki does with stands from there onwards.
